When is 3:30pm BST in EST ?

I can't find the formula on Google.

I have a conference on 3:30pm BST on Sept 7th... when is that in east coast America?

Cappy, hun, here in the states she is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, I am in the Central Standard Time Zone.

She is one hour ahead of me, you are 5 hours ahead of her, and 6 hours ahead of me.

Just cause I'm a dork sometimes, I'll add: BST stands for British Summer Time :D

Here in the states cappy we refer to our time zones as eastern, central, mountain, pacific, etc. We don't care what time of year it is. It is all the same to us really. Most of us aren't that anal.

She didn't refer to her timezone as "eastern", she referred to it as EST, the two are different. Sadly, you don't seem to feel that it's important to acknowledge that there's a difference, since it would never be useful for you to interact with any uncivilised society that doesn't observe DST, like Arizona or Mexico, right? I'm amazed to see just how widespread this ignorance is, is it not something that concerns you?

Every credible site on the internet will define EST as UTC-5 and EDT as UTC-4. This is something that you don't need to acknowledge?

I believe that very few british people would fail to note the difference between GMT and BST when asked what timezone they are in. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is what I have observed.

Nope, don't need to acknowledge that, unless you are anal retentive. Hell I've never heard of it and I have lived in all of the time zones in the US. EST for those of us here in the us is for the states along the eastern coast line and parts of the north, it is called Eastern. Those of us in the south central area it is the Central time zone, etc.

Now, we have the strange state of Arizona, who chooses not to participate in the ridiculous ritual of changing times twice a year.

You do have a point if you want to be anal about it really, I'll give you that.

And, yes, I am guilty of the crime of trying to be perfect, given my chosen profession I better be LOL. But yes, your comment was sarcastic and stereotyping.

We aren't that anal about our time zones. We just ask if you are Eastern, Central, etc.
