    Why this name?
Whenever I read someone's post, I always wonder what the nick means and what it stands for and what it signifies for this person.

As almost everyone knows I chose my nickname as I am a firmbeliever in my religion..

I have seen very unusual names and most I have never heard before..
Why did you choose yours and what does it mean?

    Thanks all

    Synnen
Mine is a long story... essentially, it's the name I took for my character in an online game.

My husband always plays using the name Roland. Well, Roland was already taken, so he took Rolynd. His brother got that song "Rollin' with da homies" stuck in his head, and rolled the character Kykyn. Pretty soon half the guild had names that could be used with the last name "Widahomeas" (with da homies). So I took Synnen (Sinnin').

I'm really into the 1940's and the 1950's and love those type of pinup pictures. I think they look so pretty and you never see pics like that anymore.

If you met me in real life, I would be quite reserved. Until you got to know me and I got to know you. So that is the shy part. Green for my eyes.

I thought your name was "sign in" not "sinnin" :)

I chose excon because I couldn't say the things I say, if everybody knew I was a Rabbi.

I'm named after a favourite cocktail bar. 2 cocktails for £5 all week. 100s to choose from, best margatita in town (better even than the mexican restaurant.) The only tequila, absinthe and gin cocktail I've ever had.

I thought of the name when I was looking at my bedroom wall which is covered in posters, postcards, gig tickets and random leaflets street preachers give me. It was one of the postcards with writing on it, liked the name so took it.

My avatar is a drawing I did from an article in a fashion magazine.

Mine is a name I have used on forums and what not for years. It came from the name I was given in high school by someone who told me I had the ability to help dissolve conflict among our friends, and look from both sides past the negative things.. She had said that It was like I was Alkaline - neuterlizing the acid. The angel part just was stuck on afterwards... most of the people I have know throughout my life, would know me by this name... so its stuck now... really it doesn't make all that much sense to me anymore, but its habit to use it as a screen name.

    Hello Firmbeliever,

I guess you know why I chose my name, I have been on different question answer sites for over ten years now and I have always used the same username. I would like to think that every one of us are here to help others, guide others and Jesus has done that with his teachings. Jesus is a great example of what and how we should all be and how to treat each other.

    Excon's not a rabbi??

I've always used a certain screen name on all other sites. I decided to be different this time. "Wondergirl" came to me during a two-minute time of deep thinking. I'm still wondering why I chose it.

I've always enjoyed boats. Sometimes mine... sometimes other people's boats (OPB's). I've always been the type that liked a challenge, so many years ago to show myself, and to gain credibility, I got my OUPV cert (Captain's License) hence...

Mine is part of my first name and last name stuck together, since I am not very clever in thinking up screen names. I was thinking of switching to Ghilliegal, (Irish dance soft shoes are called ghillies) but I don't want to lose my post points!

    CaptainRich,
I did think you were about boats,

But you will not believe the image that came to my mind when I first saw your name.
I thought of those main male characters in Barbara Cartland romance books, must have been the name Rich... ;)

    Emland,
I thought yours was a name of a place... sounded exotic, like dreamland.. :)

firmbeliever, I work in a public library and am with people who wonder a lot. I wonder too. In the library, we can find answers to our wonders.

(Ok, OK, I really am the girly version of Wonder Woman. You found me out.)
