Thanks for the right lyrics. I actually knew they didn't sound right when I wrote it, and I was going to come back and change it, but I forgot. Oh well, I guess I'm just as guilty as my friend who thought someone was going to poke their eyes out. LOL!

My newest pet peeve, well it probably always has been, but the lack of education kids are getting these days. Not only at school, but I suspect some parents too. They don't know how to spell because all they do all day is text, they don't know if they are pregnant or not, or many times don't even know how they can get pregnant... probably because they were texting during that class, and they have absolutely no respect for their elders or any kind of authority!

I blame a lot of this on the media, poor parenting of all of these kids that are having babies at 14, and haven't got a clue, the way our schools are run and funded, and the total disregard for teaching children morality, and the basics they need to survive.

Okay, I just got myself mad again... lol

Breathe Starby. Remember, we do a great service to many of these kids by coming to AMHD and answering their questions. They don't always listen, or want to hear what we have to say, but at least they have somewhere to go to ask and learn what they obviously aren't being taught at school or at home.

We can't save the whole world, but we can help the few who come here with an open mind and are willing to listen.

So, chin up, big smile, and go change someone's life for the better. :)

This has been one of my greatest pet peeves... and I'm not sure why I didn't put this on here before. People who lie. Not just... lie like, "I...can't make dinner...because...I feel sick," lie... I'm going with absolutely RIDICULOUS and pathological lies.

    Example 1:

I went to high school with a guy... who made up THESE lies:

Freshmen year: I used to be a ball boy for the Lakers

Truth: he works at the movie theater... concession stand.

Sophomore year: I'm a junior racer... I drive a porsche 911 turbo on the weekends... got a company to sponsor me... etc.

Truth: he drives a 97 honda accord... and it took him a week during junior year to learn how to drive manual.

Junior year: I got a BMW custom made and imported...

    ... one week later...

Me: um.. what happened to the beamer?
Him: oh, I wrecked it after 2 days, so my mom had it sent back.

Truth: there's... no need for this "truth" anymore. It's just sad.

Senior year: I started a new business... y'know, doing imports/exports... and it's going very well, our quarterly is looking good.

Truth:... he cleaned out his garage and sold stuff on eBay. Seriously. That was his business.

New one: member here arguing with me about pregnancy vitamins and how bad they are for you... apparently she claims she's 26, married to a doctor, is a journalist, has 7 degrees, and makes 10 mil a year... while on the other post, she's a 14 year old girl asking for help on a boy.

    ... why lie?

I don't disagree but I have to share an anecdote I heard about a graduate student at a major university, in a molecular biology program. She also didn't know she was pregnant -- for several months. She was so busy working late at night in the lab, didn't pay much attention to her own body, just didn't notice. As I heard it, one of the women janitors commented on her obvious state and the grad student was like, who me? This was back in the early 80s. To me this is inconceivable (no pun intended :)), but obviously everybody's different.

I don't know why, but that kind of lying doesn't really get to me. I think I just find people like that unknowable, like they are not even people to me? I don't try to understand them or feel much when I realize that it's all lies. I'm more bothered by people who lie to hurt other people in some way, to bully or manipulate or evade responsibility.

Recently in atlanta... a 15 year old girl had a stomachache during her softball competition... coach took her to the hospital, found out she was in labor.

She apparently had NO idea... thought she was missing her period due to working out so much for softball... no one knew... she didn't show at all... etc.

Amazing! I'm just stunned by stories like that. How, what, why??

How can you not know you are that pregnant? How can anyone else not know? What planet are they all living on? Even a 6 month pregnancy (let's not even talk 8 or 9 months) is really obvious. I keep thinking these stories can't be true, that maybe she was just 2 months pregnant and it was a miscarriage. But I keep hearing them...

Are you sure this really happened?

I always wondered that too, but it was on the local news... so I'm going to have to assume it's true. She actually gave birth to a healthy baby... it's insane.

I've reported her post. Before I did I made the dumb mistake of rating her an agree by forgetting to click the disagree button. Hopefully something will be done by the mods.

So true... How can one not know.. The parents, adults around the pregnant teen, and the girl herself, how can no one know?

I remember there was a girl, 15 year old and we travelled on the same transport while this girl was being transferred to a rehab.

Just from the way the girl sat,I knew she was pregnant. This girl was more on the chubby side, but still the way she carried herself and sat was enough of a sign to guess she was pregnant.
All of us working at the rehab knew the moment we saw her that she was pregnant.

Guess what? The mother denied knowing anything about her daughter being pregnant. As that particular rehab did not cater to babies/children of addicts, she had to be transferred to another facility because of her pregnancy which the rehab Doc found out after a routine checkup.

My sister was 5 months pregnant with her 3rd child before she realized she was pregnant.

She has had SERIOUS problems with her "woman parts" though--getting periods that lasted 5 months to not getting a period for a year, that sort of thing--to the point of having a full hysterectomy at age 27. She hadn't gotten a period, but also didn't get morning sickness or anything like that, and none of the symptoms of her first two pregnacies. She knew she was pregnant when she felt the baby move.

So... I can see making it halfway into a pregnancy without knowing---but there's no WAY I can see making it to term. For god's sake, all those feet and elbows in your bladder would give it away if nothing else did.

People who forward all that crap on to begin with--because it says that they'll have bad luck or good luck or will meet their lover or something good will happen or god will bless them or it's Un-American not to.

    I've had email since 1992. There's very little I haven't already seen 5 times.

The ones that REALLY tick me off, though, are the ones from "friends and family just looking out for my welfare" that are extremely Christian. I am NOT going to convert back to Christianity for an email, for the Lady's sake!

The other thing I hate is people that spam MySpace bulletins constantly with every cute little YouTube or spam message they ever got. I don't CARE about your stupid music/gospel message/Muppet Show nostalgia!

More of an annoyance than a pet peeve, and I suppose it's the fault of the person who can't type or spell... AND I suppose I should just back off those finding unique ways to make a buck...

But what about people who buy up domain names that are just slight misspellings from the real site you want to go to and then redirect you... its no big deal if I'm typing in a URL wrong for, uh, I don't know, some site that's a .gov or .edu and I type in .com or whatever and it redirects me to a site with searches related to the site I was looking for...

But my wife mistyped askjeeves a few months back (I think she typed in geeves) and next thing I know I'm hearing her yell for me to come because "honey, im on porn tube!"...

And I'm thinking to myself as I come to the office "well I sure as hell didnt upload a naughty video of you so you'd better ask your bf"... before I realize she was redirected to a porn site and couldn't get out. One of those "popup" type things where you have to hit control/alt/del to close the application because it won't let you "x" out.

To those of you who haven't had this happen, its annoying as heck, especially when you have other tabs open and don't really want to close your browser.

I get it. You're trying to make a buck off my ignorant spelling. Just don't direct me to something that might be offensive and then refuse to let me out without closing the app.

    Kp,
I know what you mean, this happened to me while searching for a kids rhyme site,I am not sure what I misspelled but it took me to a site no parent would want to open while a child is waiting patiently for nursery rhymes.

And about the not being able to close it,I had to shut off the Pc,because the whole computer froze.

Hey I just found a pet peeve I didn't know I had: I hate it when companies publish only phone numbers with words in them, like "call us at 555-porkpies". I really don't like having to decipher the letters on the dial to figure out how to reach them. I know it's a minor thing but I do find it annoying.

Am I the only one who is DYING to call 555-porkpies?

I worked at a company that had a receptionist who was the surrogate mother to all... nice, kind lady with a great sense of humor. One of the workers, after having this prank pulled on her, got her to call a number for free dog food. She was a dog lover and the worker told her to put it on speakerphone so she could help her through the process. She did this, of course, in front of the entire lab group that worked with her and knew her well.

Well... needless to say, 1-800-my-puppy was what the worker told her she was calling... instead it was 1-800-my-pu__y (you work it out) and connected her to a sultry woman's voice who was glad to entertain her for a minute by minute fee. It was beautiful. She turned three shades of red and smacked each of us at least once. Hard to run away when you're laughing hard.

Do you have the male version phone number? Would that me 1-800-my-pe__s? Hubby's on nights again. That's my pet peeve, companies that are open nights. :(

I'm lonely, I'm grumpy, I've had a bad day, well, some of it anyway.

I need a back massage, with some tingly oil. I want rose petals on the bed and satin sheets. I'll wear my lingerie, he'll wear his silk boxers, we'll put the kama sutra tape in the DVD and enjoy. This sucks! :( Right now I'd settle for some dirty talk. ;)

Really huge pet peeve right now, my hubby's boss.

I freakin' HATE companies that are ONLY open 9-5. Like everyone ELSE doesn't have to work those hours too! Or, like the DMV, open 11-3, Monday through Thursday. Bah.

More companies should have hours for those of us that don't even get HOME until 7 PM.

Having worked in a factory in the summer--even though he doesn't see you as much, I bet those 2 weeks are something of a relief to him, because of how hot it gets inside a machine shop.

I also worked "southern swing"--5 days of 'days', 2 days off, 6 days of evenings, 1 day off, 7 days of nights, 4 days off, and back to days for the same cycle. So just think---it COULD be worse!

Did you lift someone's spirit, or break their spirit. Did you lend a hand when needed, or were to blind to see the need.
And did you count your blessings and be grateful or did you desire someone elses blessings. Did you dry a tear, or cause a tear? Did you realize how special you are and how special others are or could you only see faults?

And lastly :), and this is something that I do try and work on myself, is to have more understanding, to care for, and not get upset at those who do cause pet peeves, as they are the same as us, and may just have painful issues, or actual reasons they do the things they do.

Final thought - to make someone smile, can last for miles, causing a tear, could last for years.
