HistorianChick disagrees: Ma'am - Webster's Dictionary - Colloquial contraction of Madam or My Lady. Free Online Dictionary - a polite address for a woman. Thesaurus - Noun, a woman of refinement. That's not sexist. That's class.

I agree with Historian chick and Webster! I love it, I also believe I feel flattered when someone calls me Ma'am. Mucho thanks to you for giving us that history report! Hugs!

I'm proud to be a woman and a lady. Granted, sometimes it makes me feel old if a pimply faced kid calls me ma'am, but its done out of respect and honor. And hey, what girl doesn't wish she was back in the time of Knights and Ladies - being called My Lady by a Lancelot look-alike would be OK in my book! :)

I'm back. As I suspected... 4 questions, took us 2 hours.

I didn't finish a question, but upon leaving, I found that no one did. I feel OK.
