Were did my buddies go? My internet wasn't working yesterday and boy did I miss you, but now that I'm back you're still not here. Were did you go?:(

I had lots of chocolate this weekend, oh and the coffee is ready to come out of my ears, that's how much I indulged.

Apparently that was a bad thing to do, however, because now I've got a really bad chest cold and my entire body is sore. Do you think I'm paying for loving chocolate and coffee?

Oh no... you just probably didn't get enough! :D

Hope you feel better! That's not fun stuff.

I just "had" to make my famous minty brownies this weekend... They were divine... especially with a bit of vanilla ice cream on top... mmm...

Bad HC, Bad. Now I have mint brownies on the mind.:p The only place I want ice cream right now is on my poor aching muscles. I feel like I was run over by a semi.:(

How was your weekend? Other than the minty treats that is?

I was a geek this weekend... and I loved it!

With a name like "historian chick" I revel in my historian-ism and my chick-i-ness... this weekend was the historian-ism weekend! LOL! :)

I found a book in a local second hand bookstore that I've been wanting for a while. Actually, I thought I already owned the book because it sat on my desk for months and months! I kept returning and checking the book back out! :) Being the HC that I am, this book was on a famous Civil War site... a book that I pored over all day on Saturday.

Theeennnnn, I received my next book in the mail from my dear friend - Atlas Shrugged. Sooo... I spent all of Sunday reading that!

See, geek. But equally as "chick!" ;)

Sounds like you had a blast. And I don't think you're a geek at all.

My weekend consisted of nursing my husband back to health (he got sick on Saturday):(

Trying to nurse myself back to health, and my husband and take care of the kids, the animals etc. etc. (I got sick Sunday).:(

Do I sound bitter? Oh great, now my head is starting to pound. Do you think that one more cup of coffee would hurt or does it really not matter at this point?

I think that a nap is definitely in order this afternoon, I hope my little girl is tired enough to join me, otherwise it's a no go.

Hey, how about hot chocolate? Is hot chocolate the lost medicine that will cure the common cold (if this is common I'd hate to see the uncommon) dare I try it? What about hot chocolate and coffee together? Is that going to make me gag or will I find my new obsession? I'll report later, unless of course you think this is a really bad idea and you write back before I try it.

Oh noooo... hot chocolate and coffee together makes a quick, at-home mocha. It's mocha, baby! :) especially with some half and half cream.. . mmm...

One more cup never hurts. Even when you're in a seriously caffeinated state, what's one more?? ;)

Course, I'm really not the one to ask about this... they know me by name at Starbucks and I don't even know what I order anymore. I walk in and they have it ready. One double shot of espresso that is shot and a chaser of something black and a bit sweet. Its good. But I have no idea how they make it, or how to order it... ;)

I'd give you some money to start your shelter. I would also start my own.

Hi Pasiria- maybe that's the route I have to take. Find other people who live close to me and are also interested in opening a No-Kill shelter and then pool our money together and make it happen. I know that I'm not giving up, this is not just a dream for me but for all the poor animals out there that die everyday because they aren't wanted, or are abused, or starving, the list goes on.

HC- you are correct, coffee and hot chocolate brings a smile to ones face. MMMMM.

They don't know me by name at Starbucks, but I also have a problem with ordering. (I'll have a double half de-caf with goat milk and a twist of lemon Grande please:p ) Could they make it any more confusing?

I usually just tell them that I like sweet things and they should surprise me, oh, and Grande that surprise please. I've never been disappointed, but it does suck when you really like something they've given you and you have no idea what it's called.:o

Yes, being a Starbucks junkie has its perks (no pun intended) and its disadvantages.

I'll get free stuff all the time, but when I go to another store I have NO IDEA what to order because they always do it for me!

A "twist of lemon" in coffee? That's new to me... not sure about that... but hey, I'll try anything once! :)

I've taken stray animal all my adult life. The last one was abused. He won't let anyone touch him, but me. He really trusts me to the point of laying upside down, so that I can scratch his chest. He is a chow.

Sadly, I go to starbucks WAYYY too much (about twice a day... ) so all the baristas know me and my usual. Not only do they know my usual, they know my different "usuals" for different days.

    This is a typical scene:

    I walk in.

    Baristas: Hey Sneezy!
    Me: Hi baristas.
Baristas: well, today's _____ (fill in day of week)... and it's ___ (fill in time of day), I'll get you your grande white mocha with 3 shots of espresso, no whip.

... I really need to take a step back and look at my life...

Coffee really is the nectar of the Gods. Okay, it doesn't make complete sense but it sort of works. Hey, I'm on medication, and I'm drowsy, I don't need to make sense today.

We should start a thread about coffee. How often do you drink coffee, how many cups per day? Does Starbucks know you by name? Do you call ahead so that your order will be ready when you get there, do you need to call ahead or is your order always ready when you get there? If you were stuck on a deserted island and you could only take along two items of food which would continuously replenish itself but never change, would one of those foods be coffee, would the other be chocolate? If you look at the above question and don't understand why any of these habits would be considered strange, then you might have a coffee addiction.

Go to you nearest CA immediately (Coffees Anonymous) only they can help you. We provide Coffee @$1.00 a cup free refills. Join CA today. We'll never tell.

LOL! Yes, but sadly, it needs to appear in the Addictions forum, doesn't it?

    That's bad...

Nectar of the gods... I like it! :)

Yes I'm wired, otherwise I would be comatose.

Maybe we should start a coffee shop and chocolate shop when we win the millions.

Could we incorporate a No-Kill shelter into that? Let me think.

Adopt a pet, get a free chocolate and coffee.

Or maybe the shelter between the coffee shop and chocolate shop. People would stop in on their way from one to the other. Don't you think?

Ah Addiction. Embrace it, love it, nurture it, but most of all feed it.

I just finished starting a new thread. I think I might have opened up a huge can of worms. Watch me get yelled at.

    s'Top the s'Tupidy

Think u can make chocolate, coffee and pets fit in??

    Sure, let's see.

Stop the Stupidity. Realize that coffee can be addictive, let us help you with free refills. Chocolate grows brain cells, grab a bar today. Animals can help you gain wisdom, stop the stupidity, adopt a pet today.

This is all I could come up with on short notice, if I think of something better I'll let you know.

In the meantime, I need more coffee, I only got 2 hours of sleep last night because of this darn cold. Now I've got a fever and I can't keep anything down (accept coffee of course). To top it all of, my 9 year old has now caught the cold as well, I always did tell my kids that sharing is a good thing.

    Me: no. midterm week.
    Barista:... venti 5 shooter?
    Me: yep.

    Me: *big sigh*

Hey guys, I'm to sick to go to Starbucks, I'm not allowed to operate heavy machinery. I'm jealous.

Caffeine enhanced water? Or just the regular stuff?

    Where's the fun in that?

Just regular water, with ice. I don't want caffeine because then I'll have to stay awake, there won't be a choice.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today. Oh woe is me.

Thanks for the support HC, I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow, until then I'm taking my meds and trying to catch some ZZZ's, which would be allot easier if I could stop coughing. Be gone phlegm, you are not welcome her on Andrea Island. Great, I've stopped making sense, now I'm just rambling, or am I always like this? One cup of coffe isn't working to well for me.;)

Go ahead, say it with Lady MacBeth...

"Out, damn'd phlegm! Out, I say!"

In my book, swearing is acceptable if you are quoting Shakespeare! ;)

I agree with swearing while quoting Shakespeare, but let us also allow ourselves the occasional cuss word when we stub our toe on the coffee table. Coffee table, I can't stop thinking about coffee, it's all around me.

I'm going to have some lemon flavored Neo Citrin and a nice warm bath, then I'm lathering on the vicks vapo rub.

Out darn phlegm, out I say! Say it loud, say it proud.

The phlegm's still here, but so am I, it hasn't won yet.

HC - Are you at Starbucks with Sneezy?

I'm drinking coffee today, I don't care if I stay awake I must have my little bit of heaven in a cup. My hubby brought me a Ritter Sport Marzipan bar yesterday to make me feel better. Goodness do I ever love that man.
