If he can prove us wrong that would be something I'd accept, and I'd apologize for doubting him. But, I can't see how he's going to prove us wrong. I realize that some countries are horrendous, and orphaned children have to fend for themselves, dumpster dive, live in cardboard boxes. But this OP is expecting us to believe that he's been on his own since the age of 9, works, pays rent, starting a serious relationship at the age of 11 that lasted for 5 years, and has enough money for a computer and internet access in a country that sends 10 year old children to war armed with rocks.

Ya, just not buying it, and I can't see any explanation that would make me change my mind.

Anyone want to bet that the OP will come back and say something along the lines of "I can't prove it, because I want to remain anonymous. It's not fair that I'm not being believed. But if you don't believe me, that's your problem", and offer no proof at all, or even logic to explain the inconsistencies?

I bet a toaster. :)

Are you saying that you believe that he worked, found a job, a place to live a the age of 9, and then started dating at the age of 11 and stayed with this girl for 5 years? Are you saying you believe that at the age of 10 he was sent to war with only rocks to fight against people with guns? Are you saying you believe that he lives in a country so corrupt that the mere mention of going against that government could lead to death, yet he posts about that corrupt government on a website? Because I asked about how he can prove who he says he is means I get stomped on now? Unless we know each other in person, we have absolutely no idea of who any of us really is. Yes, we reveal some of ourselves over time and learn to trust each other over time, but some I have known and trusted turned out not to be trustworthy and no one I really knew.

If I remember, he posted earlier in this thread something about not being in the corrupt country any longer but is in a nearby one. ***ADDED*** Found it -- "and no im in a country nearby i got moved to another country after getting seriously injured and sadly the war and corrupted laws are very close to us and this country now is being effected."

I never stomped on you WG! You asked how he can prove it. I said he can't, and then asked if you believe his outlandish stories. He can't prove that they're true, but common sense says they're not, and that's what I'm basing my posts on, common sense.

Maybe it's time to take a step back from AMHD for a few hours, or a day, or longer, like all of us have to do once in a while. You were never "stomped on." You are being overly sensitive.

No one here believes the OP's story, there are too many inconsistencies. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt until I found out is supposed REAL age. I seriously doubt that a 9 year old could make it on the streets of a war ravaged country without family intervention. Now he claims to be 16 with a job, apartment, cat (that he can't afford to feed) and internet access (that he can afford).

It suddenly went from being the OP's problem of supplying proof to becoming MY problem. Yes, "stomped on" was a bit much, I admit, but I was in shock when I read that. No, I'm not going to take a step back.

You apparently aren't watching the news lately. And he said he isn't in his home country right now but in one near it. His "apartment" may be in a derelict building and/or with other otherwise homeless refugees, the cat may be a stray, and Internet access can be at a street café or even on a cheap cell phone. We may never know the entire story -- or believe it.

I'm still somewhat on the fence, although I do have my doubts about the age, I try to think of how I know my son reacts to things at times (a bit over zealous and emotional) and place a little of that here.
At this point I'm waiting for his response.
His unwillingness to give any information doesn't help me to understand what he is telling us any better.
In a strange way I hope he is a bored student, troll, just funning with us, while it's not a nice thing to do I would like that better than knowing that (even though just on the internet) I have encountered a young man who has had to struggle this much in so few years. Even if there has been embellishment I do think some of what he has said is possible, other parts I doubt.
I'm just a big softie, at times it's not a good thing, sometimes it serves me well, I don't know which is the case here.
At any rate I'm still a little confused.

I think this thread has gone on too long - there are inconsistencies in the story, certainly. Maybe OP is telling the truth. Maybe he isn't.

My concern is that he is a self-professed anarchist: "a person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against any established rule, law, or custom."

I think he's succeeded to a degree - suddenly long time AMHD members are in conflict and he hasn't come back with... zip. So he got his disorder.

I don't know about the "revolt" part.

I don't have much input in this, however, I can't help but notice the word "Jester" in his username.
