I actually know nothing about guns. I have shot lots of them, could I tell you what they were? Nope. I will admit I have a good shot, now I just need to know what I am shooting!

My dad is ecstatic that I am starting to show interest in guns. He only has big guns, he lets me target shoot on them, but I'd love to have one of my own.

Plus he was Navy, he was an under waters weapons tech, so his thing was torpedo's, under water bombs, sea bombs, and even remotely operated robotic vehicles. When we were posted to the west coast my father did a lot of over seas tours to Iran, Iraq, Cambodia, Haiti, Yugoslavia, Africa, Cairo, and Afghanistan he was with the infinitry troops and the engineers, both American and Canadian so he got to play with a lot more weapons then. He has quite the collection of war memorabilia. He calls it his first born lol.

At this site they have pictures and prices of all kinds of gun and the ammo too. If someone mentions a firearm it's a good chance it can be found here. Plus you can search by category. Or bullet diameter. And that can help you in your quest to learning about them.

Here is one Im going to throw out there.
How much ammo should you have at hand? What is the minimum for your firearm.

I usually keep between 300 to 500 rounds for the ones I shoot regularly and only 200 for the ones I don't.

What is everyone's preference?

I carry a Taurus .38 revolver with pearl grips and a gold trigger. Yeah, I got me some BLING! :p

One of my weapons about 5000 rounds, others around 1000.
