    Hi Everyone,

I was having internet problems for the last two days, did anyone miss me? I'm drinking seven eleven brand coffee today, somehow it just doesn't cut it, it's like eating an Aero bar when you are used to Godiva.

Let's start the morning with a little coffee humor:

I have heard that if your wife/husband makes bad coffee, that is grounds for divorce.

Can I just say that I have fallen in love with Starbucks... completely.

I've had a RAH morning (doctors and nurses and lawyers, oh my) and walked into a starbucks that I normally don't go to... This is the convo:

Semi-familiar Barista: What can I get you?
Me: I don't care. Make it lots of caffeine, lots of whipped cream, and BIG. Very big.
    SFB: I got you covered...

He then makes this divine concoction - two shots, a pump of white choc, a pump of caramel, and whip cream. Hands it over and says:

SFB: What about the big one?
Me: I normally shoot espresso, so anything you want
SFB: WAIT A MINUTE!! Do you go to Rivergate Starbucks all the time?
    Me: Ummm... yes...
SFB: I waited on you once! I know what to make you. (Two more shots of espresso, hazelnut, and whip cream, in the bold blend of the day)
Me: Pretty bad that you remember me from my drink...
SFB: No, you're always friendly and smiling and you have a beautiful voice that I like to listen to.
Me: *puddled on the floor* Awww... thank you!
Now-familiar-SFB: Since you're having a bad day, give me $2 and we'll call it even.

    *sigh*

Awwwww, this made me smile real big... Good Day to you HC!
That is sweet... I work in the resaraunt business and I appreciate it when a customer appreciates my being sweet, or having conversation about them... I appreciate the smile on their face, and the tip they leave. (it really isn't about the tip but some people just can't say thanks with out leaving money) LOL

On a different note, you know that Startbucks is not the only coffee joint that can make good drinks and that can remember your face and sweet voice, there are many smaller coffee joints that can do just that, smaller lines and nice people there too. I went into starbucks and kind of felt out of place the other day, ilike the hole in the wall coffee joints... but starbucks made a good mean vanilla latte with extra whipped cream the other day and I still appreciated it! All right, done... getting more coffee, Good morning!

Lol, yes, Startover, I adore the smaller shops too, but this morning... I just needed caffeine! :) I love coffee. Pure and simple. But, coffee with a smile and people that remember you makes it even better.

And free coffee? That makes it divinity in a cup! ;)

Oh! And being flirted with by a cute barista? Priceless.

    For sure...
And about the making coffee and divorce thing... :D
Too funny... I have to be honest, if it isn't made before I wake up I am grumpy...
AND if it isn't made right I am grumpy... (normally it isn't made right) LMAO

That was a sweet story with the SFB and starbucks.

See... I'm just the opposite. Impatient grump who'll call the restaurant hard line on my cell if I'm waiting to be seated and getting ignored... always love their reaction to

    Phone rings...
Hello, xyz grill, can I help you?
Yes... I want to be seated.
    We don't take reservations.
I don't want one. I want seated and I'm standing by the "wait to be seated sign"
Confused silence followed by someone, usually flushed, coming to seat me

    Priceless.

So I'm not the cheery ray of sunshine that gets remembered kindly, I'm probably "that guy" that gets waited on by the person who drew the short straw. But then I tip well enough if they behave.

An italian joint near my apt is pretty famous... where on a given Friday night, the line is out the door (literally)... down the handicap ramp... and a little bit into the parking lot. My friends and I always end up waiting 40 minutes or so for a table. Last week, I thought I'd be clever, so I called them while waiting in line...

    Phone rings
Hostess: Hello, thanks for calling _____ my name is ____ how may I help you today?
Me: hi. How long's the wait currently?
    Hostess: for how many?
    Me: 4
Hostess: mm about 30 minutes (she lied. It was more like an hour. I should know. I was at the end of the line).
Me: OK... that's a bit too long for me... I got some people from out of town... (hopes)
Hostess: let me see what I can do for you
    Me: OK.

    Wait.
    Wait.

Hostess: OK, sir. You said 5?
Me: yes (why not? Whatever she says... )
Hostess: OK. Can you be here in... 5 minutes? We can get you a table set up as soon as a couple leaves
Me: I'll be there in 2. my name is sneezy. What's your name again?
    Hostess: _____
Me: thanks. I'll look for you.

... my friends and I waited about 4 minutes... then walked in. we were seated immediately, much to the angry grumbles of everyone in line. I saw sarah, gave her a 20.

    Ah the joy.

Sneezy you're sneaky, I like it. Remind me to bring you along the next time I go to a busy restaurant, oh, you don't happen to live in Canada do you?:D

I am now drinking my flavorless water and being grumpy. I'm still sick and it's getting a bit annoying, actually it passed annoying 4 days ago, now it's downright discouraging. At least the kids haven't gotten it.:)

    And here's a little joke to brighten your day;

At the data-entry company where I work, the other operators and I share a coffeepot. One morning I took it into the ladies room to fill it with water. Then I began preening in the mirror, brushing my hair and reapplying some makeup. I didn't realize how long I'd been until someone slid a note under the door. "You win," it read. Any ransom demand will be met. Just release the coffeepot."

I get to see my avatar daily, he's one of my 3 bunnies. I wonder if bunnies like coffee? I'm not going to try, I don't need to add another coffee addicted creature into this household, I have a hard enough time supporting my habit.

Great picture HC, are you a professional photographer?

That bunny is appropriately named "Cotton", I also have a "Thumper" and an "Oreo", what can I say, the kids aren't very original. I have found that animals with exotic names don't live as long, a dog named Fido will live on average 5 years longer than a dog named Socrates, I can't prove it but it's fact at my house.

My daughter once had 3/4 of my iced cap from Timmies, after suppressing the urge to yell I went back to Timmies and got a new one. When I got back my husband looked at me and asked if Sydney had gotten into the sugar bowl. Apparently she was running around in circles saying "I can't stop, I can't stop, I can't stop......." for a full 15 minutes before she collapsed and said "Daddy my eyes won't shut." Needless to say I now hide my Ice Cap.:D

    Hi Everyone,

I need a double dose of coffee this morning, my 13 years old black lab is going loopy and spent the entire night barking at nothing. He's going blind and deaf so I can't blame him, but I really wish I had some ear plugs last night. I need my coffee this morning.

My daughter is hilarious, who needs television when you have kids, the say and do the darndest things.

Oh boy... there is nothing worse for sleeping the a dog's constant barking... I understand perfectly! The people in the apartment above me have a min-pin and a beagle (as if the min-pin wasn't enough! Grrr... ). When the min-pin isn't running in circles, the beagle is howling, as only beagles can do. I've called the apt office many times - granted, they're pretty good about quieting the dog at 10 pm, but some nights I actually yell at them through the ceiling... lol... you think that's funny, don't you? Rah... I am a cat person. :)

Yup, agree about kids - don't have my own, but I'm a teacher at heart. :)

What province are you in? My Dad grew up in Quebec and I have hockey in my blood!

I'm in Alberta. Hockey runs rampant here, but I'm not a huge fan. I don't get a thrill watching a bunch of millionaires on skates chasing a little black puck, don't tell anyone I said that though.:p

Kids are as crazy as dogs if you ask me, if not crazier. They do say the greatest things...
I have four of my own children, but the thing that sticks out today is this...
Max is four, left him watching TV to get washed up, I had just gotten out of the shower and he asks...

I took your advice HC, but it wasn't as satisfying as I expected, he's almost completely deaf and I ended up having to poke him to get him to notice that I was even there. Then he did the whole "I'm a pathetic puppy who just wants your love" bit and I melted. Now he's sitting in the living room with a treat because I felt guilty for disturbing his sleep. Maybe this will be a lesson to him, if you want to keep mommy up all night at least have the decency to bring her a treat, chocolate is always acceptable and will cover many indiscretions.

I just might do that! (the art thread thing, lol) Yes, it's a hobby. My camera is always in my purse with me just in case the mood strikes. You never know when you'll see a perfect sunset or a shiny moment. The sunset pic on my flickr site is my birthday a few years ago at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida... about 15 minutes from where I lived at the time. I love the picture because it was "my sunset."

I think that's why I love photography. It captures a moment and freezes it for eternity. I love it. :)

I've never had ground up tree bark personally, I'll be sure to avoid that particular blend. I love my ice caps, I can't wait until summer comes, I'll have one daily. I just have to keep it away from my 5 year old.

At the bus stop today my daughter said to me "Mommy you don't have to brush your teeth in the morning, you're breath always smells good, it smells like coffee." Some days I could just eat them up, they're so sweet.
