I don't get to see that often, when ever I meet someone in the military, I go talk to them. I bet they think I'm making fun of them or something but I just like learning about their adventure and life.

Actually, I was in jail at the time.. serving a 10 month sentence.

I remember waking up and walking out of my cell... I looked up at the TV that other inmates were already up and watching and thinking "what movie is this??" Since, TV and cards were about the only one could do, I had to make the decision on whether I wanted to watch it or play cards lol

It was pretty strange without any outside contact to the world other than what we were watching on TV while it was happening.

The last thought I remember having about it that day was, "Why couldnt they have crashed into this @#&$ing jail instead??"

The soldier in the post office seemed really shocked that anyone cared. I think they are so used to people attacking them about the war. I personally do not support the war but I fully support the troops. They are over there doing what they think is right and I know some of them don't even support the war but they still do their job everyday.

Yeah I agree too. A lot of marines I meet are surprised someone my age cares. Every year the marines to a toys for tots thing across the street from me, so when I go there I talk to them, it's a lot fun.

Honestly, most people your age are not plugged into the world around them and the war is the furtherest thing from their minds. So I'm not surprised that they are surprised at your concern and honest interest

Scott--while my sympathy goes out to those who lost someone on 9/11, I remember railing right after the fact that no one was saying ANYTHING about those who survived, and was anything being done for THEM.

You have my deepest regard - well, you already had that, since you're a great person - but seriously--My thoughts are with you and other survivors today.

I also vividly remember September 11, 2002. I was working at the airport and we were anticipating an anniversary "event." All the screeners in my pod were nervous wrecks leading up to 9/11.

Yes Glinda, All that and more! And I hardly felt it. I find it hard to imagine how people who managed to get down smoke filled stairways or experienced other hardships in getting out felt.

I remember sitting on my couch watching and thinking that this is the beginning of the end. The end of life as we all know it although life really hasn't changed much... has it?
