Here's what got me started, my first ever project.
You see, I wanted a key box, not just one of those little metal things that says KEYS that you hang on the wall, but a pretty box. So, one day I decided to make one.
I didn't know a scroll saw from a table saw to a mitre saw, nope, didn't know a darn thing. Growing up I wasn't allowed to use tools, my dad was old fashioned that way, heck, I wasn't even allowed to mow the lawn. It's funny, because he still wanted me to have a career. It's not so much that he forbade me from doing it, I really think that he didn't believe I could because I'm female. He'd be shocked (and pleased) at what I do now.
So, I picked out some wood, decided what I wanted it to look like, measured (not my strong suit) and set to work. Hubby was nervous the first time I used the mitre, he really thought I'd cut off a finger, but I didn't. In the end this is what I came up with.

Yup, that's my first ever project, my key box. Now I've perfected it, can slap one together in a day, that first one took me over a week, not including the staining and lacquering. ;)
I love your keyboxes Alty! Ken nice work from you too! Uhmmm... all I could look at after that was the car... is that your car? So very cool! Looove it!
There's a car?
... all I could look at after that was the car... is that your car? So very cool! Looove it!
Not just a car... A '24 model T.
Try running that one across the states.. it'd take 3 months to get from Massachusetts to California...
The car will eventually be put up for raffle(500 tickets) for a fund raiser, annually a local group called Farming Heritage needs to get some revenue for restoration projects and model t T's have been a great way to do it.
That is Uber Cool Ken! I'm an antique car LOVER! I used to belong to our local car club. My first car was a stock 64 and a half, Mustang! First yr they were made, and were made mid yr. I am so sorry I don't have it now. 4 on the floor stick, 289, it was heaven! Won many races in that car! :D The old ones like yours though, I am just fascinated with! I can't believe you are going to part with it... but hey, that's an admirable thing to do on your part! Makes it even cooler! ;)
Awww shucks,, thanks starby... Uber coolest... :)
The most exciting car I was ever in was a pearlescent(sp?) body, candy apple red hardtop(with flecks) '57 Chevy Bel-air.
Fiberglass front end, remove it and stand right in the wheel wells.
Had a '69 corvette 350 modified and bored(383),supposedly had 10 1/2:1 compression(although I never saw the comp. test results)New single intake(ran too rich,2 carbs were too much)NO HEAT BRRRRRRR... only the straight headers allowing the heat to come through the floorboards.
Raced at Union Grove(1/4 mile drag) and got low 13's.
Ahhh the glory dayz...
NEWSFLASH!!
Chicky got her second reddie. https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/relati...ml#post1409140
I figure two reddies in a year and over 1400 posts is pretty good!
LOL - you guys... you're too sweet. I wasn't eliciting balancers, but thanks.
I gave her a greenie and told her to play nice... :)
I don't think she has read rules and regs, and really doesn't even understand the purpose of the reddies and greenies. What a sweetie you are. I don't know if I would have given her a greenie, but maybe she will realise how to use the board that way! :)
She seemed to have a good head on her shoulders... and good advice. Probably, like you said, doesn't know how to use it.
Funny though... she originally said "no friendship" then changed to "phone friendship." Because that's what happens after hearing responses from the OP!!
She'll learn... and I hope she stays around. :)
How are you today, Starby?
Alty, you need a superhero cape :)
I'm good! Have to get ready soon to take Miss Nik to the vet for her check-up. I know I'm going to get 100 lashes with a wet noodle. Uugghhh.
... and you?
Great! Burning a Christmas candle from Yankee and enjoying the quiet. I love the holiday season!
Yes, sugar plums DO dance in my head! :)
Hope everything checks out with Niksters!
Oh, I saw your decorations on FB. Nice job! :D
Fb?
Facebook silly! :p
