Having a state gun is no more stupid than Public schools teaching 8 year olds how to roll condoms on a banana with or without the parents permission when they can't even teach them the important subjects or to read to a suitible level.

Look it up... Montgomery County Schools in Maryland.

I just think there are far more important issues for people to worry about than IF they have a state gun or not. Like can Johhny or Suzie actually read and count.

    Hello again, smoothy:

Sure there are.. That doesn't mean we should let this slip by. If it's a GOOD idea, then it IS. If it isn't, then it isn't... But, we shouldn't let sloppy legislation go by simply because there's MORE important things to focus on...

If the Utah legislature didn't focus on un-important issues, we wouldn't have to.

I agree. However, it's all about priorities. Sure they can debate this and contemplate the importance of a "State Gun", but at a level far under more important topics!

To be honest this isn't important AT ALL! This shouldn't be any sort of priority In my opinion.

But is ANYONE in this discussion actually from Utah... because its only the business of Utah voters. If Washington State wanted to make the Purple peckered Emu their state bird... its only the business of Washington state residents.

But I do have a great deal of respect for John Browning , a Utah, native ,who has contributed a vast list of firearm designs and inventions that are revolutionary and a great contribution to our military and country.

In their twisted little minds , the legislators here in Utah chose this as a way to honor Mr. Browning , which he richly deserves.
Could they have done so in a different and more appropriate manner? Of course if given much thought , but that is where they are considerably lacking in almost all their work.

He was a great man, it is a great gun , and we are governed by bonehead wanna-be bonehead cowboys in Utah.
I think they meant well and will leave it at that.

Yes you do. And I am not a fan of the lawmakers here.

This gun thing is actually has some merit in honoring Mr. Browning. Most of what they attempt is to force their beliefs on us all by making them laws.

The list of ridiculous proposals is very very long every session.
A state gun is better than a state cooking pot, which we have also, and state insect, reality seems to be beyond their grasp.
Important issues to someone... I guess

We are saved by the Constitution fortunately , and the Supreme Court or we would be lost in the fervor.

Nope, not quite. Fond or bad memories not withstanding.. I new what schtupp was even before you had to explain it to tick... yiddish term.

I was hoping someone got a laugh out of my state bird suggestion... :( Could you see that one going to the floor for a vote... :D

If memory serves me right I did too... Think she was originally from Salt Lake city before moving to MD where I knew her. And trust me there were some really good memories and some really bad ones with her. Only Mormon girl I ever went out with.

Know how to get them into a motel room?

Grease their hips and throw in a twinkie.

Sorry. That was uncouth and sexist. But funny in my uncouth opinion.
