Well, just think about the way 8, 10, 12 year old girls dress or are dressed these days. Miniskirts, crop tops, mascara and lipstick.
And, think about the magazines that target them - Girlfriend, Dolly to name two - they're all about boys, how to dress to be flirty, etc, etc.
Then think about how early girls are made to feel conscious of their bodies, weight and shape.
It's really important NOT to accept this as the norm. Childhood is precious and those carefree days are essential for our growth as balanced and mature teenagers, and later adults!
Publishers like Harper Collins need more people writing and taking issue with books like these. Surely they have better things to publish that this? Isn't there enough crapp on the market?
However, what's scary is that there may be a demand for publications like this! Sigh.
