    Open mind
    Hi,
    Open mind?
Has anyone considered that in America, everyone is entitled to an opinion?
I don't mind "feedback" in what I say, and take it with how it's meant to be; sometimes funny! Anyone who can't stand the heat, should stay out of the kitchen. Guess some would disagree with that, too.
Ever heard of Libraries? They still exist. A few of the local Libraries in our part of the World have discontinued internet usuage! They use their computers as "intranet", with information contained within the Library, sorted, etc.
I suppose now someone is going to come up with some choice words, against the Libraries, saying they "know not what they do". They have very good reasons for what they do, but wouldn't make any sense to someone with a "closed mind" about stopping the "bad".
Yes, the web is full of information, good and bad. But, when one makes a choice not to view the bad, then it is their option to do so, and look for the "good" in other places. Over the past couple of years, Porn has gotten much, much worse, and continues getting worse at an alarming rate of increase.
No, I am not going to cancel my ISP as suggested by one. I have a choice.

A lot of the reasoning behind Libaries using an intranet setup is due to a few facts:
1/ Security, no net connection equals no viruses, etc
2/ 'net screening programs are easy to circumnavigate, as already mentioned,
3/ better control over the use of their boxes and the information therein.

Did I say you weren't entitled to an opinion? But that doesn't prevent me from labeling that opinion as the drivel it is. I believe I've used the 'if you can't stand the heat... ' phrase on you before. I'm not even warm here. But you seem to be having a temperature issue. If you are going to post such closed minded, short-sighted, reactionary garbage, then be prepared to get some heat for it. At least I support my arguments with fact and logic.

As to libraries, didn't I refer to them in my response! Sure they represent a resource and many kids may actually have one within a reasonable distance that they can reach without imposing on their parental units. But for most people that's NOT the case. That means that those parental units have to give up their time to take the kids to the library. From my experience, parents are stretched pretty thin these days. And what happens when the kid needs help after the library has closed for the day?

What proof do you have about "getting worse at an alarming rate of increase"? Again, the only porn I encounter is in spam.

And why don't you address my other points? Specifically the one about Individual Freedom. Or did you address that in your closing comment:

That's right, Fred, you have a choice. And that's what so wrong about what the school did. They took that choice away! Don't you see that? They imposed their will not only during the time students were under their responsibility, but they extended that to cover times when the students were outside their responsibility. If you opened your mind and thought through ALL the ramifications you might see how closed minded you sound.
