The troll thread was closed by Talaniman. The troll gave reddies to some. I should have been the one to get a reddie, I reported her. She's still raving. Hi M and Clough!

The actual procedure is a piece of cake, I dozed through the whole thing, dozed after, was woken up but still dozed. Slept all the way home, slept 6 hours after I got home and then just got up for a few minutes only to crawl into bed again.

The absolutely worst part of it is the day before and the 4 litres of vile fluid you have to drink.

At 2pm I had to take two pills (I don't remember the name) then at 4pm I had to start drinking the liquid, 8oz every 10 minutes until it's all gone.

When it was half gone I actually cried because I couldn't imagine drinking the other half, but I did.

At 8pm I had to take three pills (another prescription, don't recall the name).

I had prepared for all of this by buying the super soft toilet paper. The best that money can buy.

The liquid turns your fecal matter into water. You do not venture far from the facilities. You are literally afraid to sneeze! That is the worst part.

When I arrived at the hospital I was checked in, weighed and then an IV was put in. I got to wear the beautiful blue floral hospital gown. I was wheeled into the procedure room on a stretcher and the doctor and I talked for a few minutes. He was wonderful, great bedside manner.

Then the nurse started the sedatives. I remember 2 different injections into the IV, then things get fuzzy.

The next thing I remember is the nurse trying to wake me up in the recovery room.

    That's about it. :)

    For #1]

Hopefully they did not find anything or if they did, they were able to remove it [ a polyp ] on the spot. If not, there is a staging system based on the actual tumor [T] if it spread to lymph nodes [N] or to other organs [M].

The higher the stage the worse the prognosis.

Selected prognostic factors and 5-year relapse-free survival in patients with colorectal cancer, based on the Mayo Clinic calculator (http://www.mayoclinic.com/calcs) for population of patients aged 60-69 years (data regarding numbers of lymph nodes analyzed is from Le Voyer el al, 200313 ) are as follows (prognostic factor, 5-year relapse-free survival):

    T3N0 (11-20) nodes analyzed – 79%
    T3N0 low grade – 73%
    T3N0 (≤ 10 lymph nodes examined) – 72%
    T3N0 high grade – 65%
    T4N0 low grade – 60%
    T4N0 high grade – 51%
    T3N1 – 49%
    T3N2 – 15%

Don't worry about it Kit, it's not the first time I've had some little twit give me a reddie because she/he is immature and doesn't want to hear the truth. It won't be the last time either. ;)

One reddie doesn't really do anything, it just makes my profile page more colorful. :)

Sinuses. I wrote a thread called antip biotics, I'm on my second dose of Avelox, still no relief. I had to get antibiotics through an IV last night, which gave me relief right up until I woke up this morning. I am starting to get two shiners under both eyes from the pressure. My hair is falling out, I hate my job, my house is a mess, my face is all broken out. I feel and look like crap. I want to bawl my eyes out right now. But instead I have to sit here and listen to by boss grunt at me.

Oh, my gosh - I just read this! I'm startled and, honestly, relieved that I missed the early days of this post. I would have been wringing my hands.

On another note - my cousin and my niece are both colon cancer survivors. My niece was only 36 when diagnosed; my cousin was in her 50's. Both are very, very well and both are advocates for screening.

    Again, it's nothing worse!

    Hi Judy.

I'm glad that you could enjoy your honeymoon and not worry about this. All is well. My arse is a bit sore, but it'll be okay. ;)

Physical tomorrow, I'll ask my doctor if he still wants the CT scan done on April 6. Might as well. It's booked, and I guess I should cover my bases. ;)

    Yes, I had a beer. Don't tell J, she'll slap me. ;)

Sick is sick Bella. I'm okay, now we have to get you okay. I'm worried about you, especially since the meds don't seem to be doing their job.

Get some rest, let your body heal and most importantly, keep us posted. We're here to prop you up, this thread is evidence of the fact that we're all family, that we all care about each other, that we're here for each other. So, we're here for you now. :)
