If a criminal is going to get a gun I don't think he's going to buy one.
    parents who have children should

I agree Kit, regardless if there is harsher rules with guns, criminals aren't going to buy legally or register anyway...

What should I have said to make it proper, 'in all do respect, etc.'. Okay, in all due respect I respectfully submit my opinion on guns and how people use them good or bad.

Tick, I adore you too, and I do respect you, and I don't want this to lead to hard feelings. But the picture to me doesn't represent illeagal activities, or criminal, it represents an independent woman, a strong woman, a woman in charge.

A woman not to mess with. And that's the inspiration I needed.

Freedom to bear arms. We have a right to own guns. There are threads here about everything. Why not guns? I agree Alty... it's it's a discussion board.

Tickle, I mean no disrespect to you, but it's not right to have some discussions that are controversial and not be able to discuss hobbies here.

Millions love to discuss guns and I see nothing wrong with it.

Good for you ab, whatever works is what I say, but to me that is just a gun.

Sorry, but I am not backing down and why would you expect me to.

You're not dictating Tickle? You're not trying to tell people what they can post about and what avy's they can have? Could you explain this than?

that is why I object to guns being discussing in AMHD. I don't see a problem with this request, and I don't agree with a post displaying a gun in the hand.
You want Bella to remove her signature, and you don't want guns being discussed on AMHD. So what would you like done? People have a right to discuss what they want to discuss within the rules of this site, and guns aren't against the rules. A picture of a gun is not against the rules. Why should Bella have to remove that picture just because one person doesn't like it?

I don't see what's "hard-nosed" about that. Don't like it, don't look, don't read, just ignore. That's the only option you have.

In order to avoid a long winded discussion and bad feelings, I say it again, I respectfully submit, y ou got that alty, that I will not look, will ignore, won't read. Does that make you happy? AB and I are fine on what has transpired and you should be too.

Tickle.. I will add this.. why do you object to a gun thread? What if people objected to forums where you are an expert. Would you be upset?
I think you would. This board gives us freedom of expression and speech as long as we follow the rules. I'd like to see the gun thread grow and maybe some gun safety tips.

If the Mods had objected... there would be no gun thread . I think hurting peoples feelings about this is wrong on your part. You don't care much for me anyway so I'll just say this... You need to knock it off about the avatars and the gun thread.

Tick, do you want a fight? I'm not in the mood.

Bottom line, when you own a site and pay for it's upkeep, you can dictate what discussions are allowed, and what avatars are allowed. Until then, you're just a member like the rest of us, and you have no say in what others wish to discuss.

You and Bella may be okay, but you're the one that posted this in the public forum instead of dealing with it via PM. So, you opened this can of worms, now it's all hunky doorie and we're just supposed to let it drop? How's that?

As for your post, I was writing when you posted it, so yes, I did miss it.

I'm done. You have no case, you've made your feelings about guns clear, it's been noted, the end.

Good luck Tick. I don't wish to fight on my birthday.

If you read the heading on this thread started by me I had asked for others to show respect of opinions. And Im glad this discussion moved to this thread. I respect your opinion in not wanting to promote guns in any way. Many here and elsewhere have fun with them and use them for sport as well. Self defense is always a thought but not the main purpose for many people. As always to each his/her own. Welcome to the thread. Debate away. Above all have fun!!

I will mention that the only thing objectionable about the pic in Bell's sig is that it violates the first rule of gun safety: Don't point a gun at something you aren't shooting. Or did the camera get destroyed?

I've said this before. When every kid in all of North America could shoot by the age of twelve, there was no such thing as "gun violence." There was violence, sometimes guns were used, sometimes frying pans, sometimes chainsaws.

You hit the nail on the head cats. We always had guns in the house when I was a kid. We still do at our house.

Where did you ever get the idea I didn't care much for you, where is that coming from?? You are taking this to a another level now kit, and I never inferred I didn't like anyone. I just don't like guns.

I don't need to knock it off about anything, Kit. I already have dropped it. I said AB and I are okay with what transpired. She explained it wasn't her in the her signature, Kit. She also explained why she trained with guns.

In any event, your laws in the US don't even relfect on our laws up here. We don't have the same constitution as yours, as in freedom to bare arms.

Not that I'm not paying attention but - honestly - I thought that was a CAMERA in AuroraBells signature. Now that I've taken a second look...

Gun story - let's see. I have a carry permit because of my work, was licensed to carry by the Federal Government, took all the classes. Thought I knew what I was doing BUT some years ago my ex-husband had a shotgun in the house. I heard a commotion outside, looked out, man had jumped over our chainlink fence and was picking up our lab puppy. I grabbed the shotgun and ran outside, yelled at him, he put the puppy down, backed up against the fence, threatened me. Keep in mind I had the gun. He was (apparently) unarmed. I was shaking from head to foot. A neighbor heard the yelling, called the Troopers, they got here, I'm still holding the guy at gunpoint. I swear if he would have moved toward me I would have shot him. It made me think about guns and gun safety.

I was simply too scared to tell him to leave - and to this day that scares me.

He was arrested, he was found guilty of trespass and that was the end of things but I think it was a sobering moment for both him and me.

Is there a point here? I don't know - and I still have a carry permit but we got rid of the shotgun.

What might he have done if you hadn't had the gun?
He still threatened you when you had it.

It is conjecture , but I would want the gun in hand and I too would have used it had he moved towards me.
Knowing how to use guns, I would have removed one or both of his knees.
