7 Most Amazing Caves of our World
![]() |
Those were beautiful to look at Firmy! Amazing things here on earth aren't there?!
THere were a couple of Discovery channel episodes of some of those caves! Yes they are for sure amazing. I this stuff... and Starby, it is amazing what our earth has to offer!
Starby and Starty,I am so glad you liked them.
Here's some more.

You mean ice caves aren't just something in Dungeon Siege?
I've been to many caves in the U.S. cause we traveled a lot when I was a kid and my dad liked caves. So I've seen some pretty cool stuff. I still love caves. But I think I probably gained an appreciation for this type of stuff from all that traveling, cause I've just seen so many different things that don't include the normal everyday hussle and bussle of metro life.
But I haven't seen any outside the U.S, or anything nearly as vast as some of this. It's funny, the one picture they said was right out of the Hobbit, right before I read that I was thinking it was a good place for a hobbit to live. :-)
Hi morgaine,
If you have some pics of your own travels into caves or anything else interesting hussle bustle metro life or not, I would love to see them:)
Sorry, no pics of caves. That was all when I was a kid. It's possible my dad took pictures and they may even still be around somewhere, but I wouldn't know where.
I think the only place I went where I took my own pics was when I visited Germany & Austria, and alas, I realize now I should've taken about 100 times as many as I did! I really have very few (20?), it was an old camera, the prints are now very old, and I wasn't a great photographer. (Though I do like one I took of the Saltz River.) It never occurred to me to scan the ones I do have. Maybe I'll do that someday.
Oh, yes, I did a bit of traveling with a band as an adult. Went to Portland and Milwaukee and have just a few pics. Mostly of band people though. I do have a picture of the pub inside Pabst. Of course, those got packed away somewhere when I moved...
I'm not being too useful, am I?
That's OK morgaine,
I just love nature photographs, was thinking maybe if you had some you could share:) No pressure!
Sounds like you have been quite a traveller:)
I do love travelling, but haven't done much as an adult, simply cause I can't afford it. I guess I got it from my dad, which is where I got everything else from. (He was an engineer if that tells you anything. That's where I got my math, my analness, my geekiness... )
My dad worked for the government so he got lots of vacation time, and he would let it add up. We took two six-week vacations out west, once northways and once southways. I believe I've been to everything west of the Mississippi. There's like 8-9 states I haven't been to and they're all S, SE or NE. I've been to all the "traditional" places like Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Yellowstone, etc. Plus everything in between cause my dad drove all the way. (I also remember finding a gas station that was .24 per gallon. COUGH!) Somewhere I do have some pictures of some of this stuff. Most of it was slides, but my one brother actually has a scanner that does slides, and he once started going through everything he could find and scanned it. So it does exist some place. (No, I don't feel any pressure cause I have too many projects, but if I ever find and get around to putting any of that up online, I'll let you know.)
There's some really cool stuff out west. But my memory of it isn't all that great. But I have some memories. We wanted to go down into the Grand Canyon on donkeys, but my mom (as usual) didn't want to go. She said it was OK for the rest of us and she'd stay in the cabin. (And I'm sure she was serious. When she traveled, she did the same things she'd do at home, in a cabin. That was her way.) But my dad wouldn't leave her. Darn! :-) And the Painted Desert is really cool. I remember Hot Springs pretty well. I also know I toured a movie studio but have no memory of it. And I remember the zoo up in Vancouver. (I've been to all the border provinces of Canada.) And the helicopter ride at Mount Rushmore was totally awesome. We saw all kinds of Indian stuff, including the cliff dwellings. I remember a place where they built adobe abodes into the ground, but it's a vague memory. I just remember thinking it was really cool.
I've also been to the Ozark lakes several times. I love it there. (I have some of my own pics from there, but who knows where they are.) I used to love to take the boat out and go all over the place. Especially over to Four Seasons to stare at all the rich people's yachts. LOL. I tried skiing too, but that didn't go over very well. I absolutely love water though. I look at a picture of the ocean and am always just in total awe. That much water just totally blows me away. I also love boats.
Now, Austria & Germany was a high school trip. Not nearly long enough. Saltzburg is just gorgegous. (Or at least was.) Outside of Saltzburg is this place called St. Wolfgang, which had this, um, park? I'm not sure what it was. But there was this HUGE chess set there. Like on the ground with these big foot-tall pieces. I've got a pic of that with Debbie's butt in the way, but it shows the relative size. Ya know, I really should scan that stuff. :-)
OK, I'm just off blabbering now. It's all your fault, cause now this is bringing back some nice memories. Oh, jeez, something to add the project list. Just what I need. (Otherwise known as THE List.) But... I will take part blame since I've also had a wee bit much wine... so maybe I should go talk to curlyben's wife. :p (Seriously, I should go visit the wine forum. Never been there.)
Morgaine,
I am enjoying your posts:)
I second that! ;)Quote:

I love sharing such things and am so glad you like them too bG.
I haven't traveled as much as I would have liked to,but this day and age I can view such beautiful images from anywhere, online.
Natural phenomena fascinates me:)
You did it again Firm. Your faith shows even in the pictures that you choose.
Don't let naysayers get on your nerves, keep sharing.
Thank you G, for your wonderful words.

Strange flowers on the road ...: Photo by Photographer Ipeson Korah - photo.net
Did you know this?
Once a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis it never grows any bigger.
butterfly facts
I believe I spotted these flowers while driving in the country in my furry car! LOL!
I'm a floral designer, so I love seeing different flower varieties. I believe #3 would be a type of orchid, very pretty! My fave is #4! I would love to work with those!
Starby.
I love to try my hand at floral design and would love to see your work.
I have some old snapshots somewhere! I think my old partner has most of them. We closed our business yrs ago. I mostly do work from home now. I really should be taking pics.
Here are some really nice pics though! :)

Starby,
Beautiful flowers!
What do you actually do? Floral designs for fabric?or art? Or something else?
No I didn't Firmy, But while writing a poem I did learn that their adult name is Imago. Look at some of the beautiful butterflies at the bottom of this link.Butterfly - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Btw I love those flowers that you posted, however that last one was sort of ominous looking... lol if a flower can look ominous.
Starby... I used to do flowers, never for a living but one mothers day when my son was in the throes of his expensive illnes I made a small mint on arranging flowers that my friend sold at work. I am sad to say that most of the things I make I rarely take pictures of.
I have done a few weddings in my time and boy are they hard... I have great respect for people that do it for a living... competitive as well as a lot of hard work.
I work with fresh, drieds, and silks. I'm usually contracted to do flower arrangements for show homes, weddings, well whatever they call me to do. I haven't been doing too much lately. The latest one I did, I had to get up on a ladder to finish it. It was for a show home entryway with vaulted ceilings. That was the largest I'd ever done. My camera isn't working, so I didn't get a pic. The company probably has one though.Quote:

The butterflies named "Lady" sure does sound beautiful.
I agree, there are some flowers and plants that do look omnious.I found some while searching but today I was more into beautiful ones than omnious.;)
EDIT::
Starby,
You must take some pics next time and we want to see them here... pretty please:D
Weddings are the hardest really. The bride is usually hard to please, and changes her mind frequently! Not to mention the brides mother! ;)Quote:

It looked like a C'mas fairytail, if I do say so myself. :D
I can't take all of the credit for it though. My partner and her husband, and about 15 other people helped a lot! :)
Edit: G, I will try and take pics of my next project. Whenever that will be. Then I'll have to get someone to show me how to post them, LOL!
Oh I would have loved to have seen that. Have you seen the special the WHite House does at x-mas times of the trees and decorations... simply stuning.
I have seen short clips of the White House at C'mas. It is beautiful! I've seen some clips from Martha Stewarts C'mas's too! Betch she doesn't do hardly any of that! LOL!
For some reason I just got an image in my head of George dubbya trying to decorate a tree! Eeeeeeekkkkkkkk! LOL!
This year the theme was national parks... if you get the chance to watch it do so, I believe it was on the hgtv channel.
Yes, dear martha can't possibly do all that we see. I really loved her old show. I may be a nerd... but she did a show on tea towels loved it, a show on roosters and old linoleum rugs, oh and the one where a chinese lady made edible flowers for wedding cakes from sugar... I wish I had taped them all. I'll shut up now:D
Don't worry! I'm a bit of a Martha geek too! I watch it every morning! Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone!
I will see if I can find the video and watch it. You know what's really funny? Nobody everrrr sends me flowers! They think because I've worked with them for 20 plus yrs. that I don't like them as a gift! I looooove flowers! That is why I do it!
Yeah, duh... sometimes I buy myself flowers... my hubby used to all the time... but he never does anymore:( of course I prefer the ones that I can plant and enjoy over and over.
My daughter(14) gives me flowers all of the time that she picks.
I have a really great neighbor... tall willowly woman, wears a hat while gardening lives in a Smokey blue, white and mauve victorian house, white picket fence, every type of flower you can imagine and she emails me or yells woo hoo free flowers for the picking... Oh I love her so much she is a Catholic school teacher that teaches her History lessons in Latin.
Oh, got to love her! I haven't done much gardening in the last couple yrs. but I have a lady across the street who has known me since I was a kid, that gives me flowers too! She's so sweet! She does tours in her yard for the horticultural society. In the spring and summer she is out in her yard from dusk till dawn, carring for her flowers. It's a beautiful yard!
I feel really embarrassed sometimes, when all of the people show up, sometimes with news crews, to tour her garden. I always think they are going to look across the street at my house and think, how pathetic is that?! She's got this large lush looking lawn, and not a weed in sight, and here I am with yellow patches, and weeds!. that is not even mentioning my backyard with doggie poop! LOL!
Lol, starby that is so funny... I can just imagine..
Hey think on the bright side it makes hers look even better.
She may end up with a award someday:D

Nice chatting with you ladies. Sorry firmy I got carried away with flowers... but I bet if starby will post a pic her yard it will go in your amazing places collection:eek:

Awwwww, taaankss! Someone will buy me flowers! :D LOL, that was sooo cute!
Here's one of my fave sites to watch.
Episode77 - Floral Design by The Flowergod
Stringer and I are having the weirdest conversation, in my castle in the lounge... geez he makes me laugh!
Thanks for the link... he knows his stuff... he made thearrangement and did not even look at the fronttill the end! It looked good from every angle. Wow!
I peek in on your lounge antics... snicker and go away those places are good for a laugh and I hate to admit it but if there is a spicy thread going on or tiff ,shh I know to look there to get additional info. Sometimes me feels like a stalker coming and going quietly.
But I do enjoy the happiness of the lounges even though I rarely join in.
Friend and alty were having a war on a thread posting different pictures that they googled... how cute.
I know, we all have our silly fun, and get a little nuts sometimes! So we have a stalker in the castle do we? Hmmmm! You know this means I have to alert the guards! LOL
