. I just didn't have a clue about this situation? I've never been in a spot like this. I was told and thought that you always got paid for the hours you've worked? I would've paid the rent on time and was told it would be OK if it was a couple days late. But once this manager left and the new one was going to take over is when he changed his mind. I know they don't have to have a reason in this state to fire you. And I'm not arguing that. I moved in the 2nd week of January and this happened on the 31st of January. I was only here for 3 weeks. And my pay was enough to have gotten caught up after paying that rent and with one more check would've paid the next months rent on time. I just wasn't sure what my rights were being that I didn't ever sign a lease . I'm not A scumbag that tried to live here w/o paying it just didn't seem fair to be terminated for this and then my next paycheck that was supposed to be here that next day still isn't here. I have 2 choices. I can stay here and make them evict me at the risk of having my last check taken completely which I know is not legal. Or move out on Friday and take their offer of getting my last check? But I did say it has to be in writing. I don't know what you or anyone here could tell me or answer this? I just went on here to see what I could or should do? I've tried not to use excessive punctuation. Hope that helps you. The problem I have is that I can stay here and be defiant? Or like most poor people like me take whatever I can get, cut my losses and take it! Just a statement not a question.

If you get a check that has been deducted from and you are disputing the check should you still cash it? Even if you are completely broke?

Generally, once you cash the check, it is like you are accepting it as it is.

I disagree. In the old days you wrote 'accepted under protest' on the check but those days are gone. You can cash it and still fight for your rights in court without prejudice.

I was told that I should make a copy of it and I have a pay stub/notice from that week that says what I should have gotten but they took it back and took out a deduction that I don't think I authorized? Its called employers risk? I'm being held at ransom here because they know I need money badly. And think they can get me out of here by telling me they'll take my pay they know their in a bad position with me because I never signed a lease and still have the power in their name and they can't legally turn it off with me living here. So I can leave and hope they pay me like they've offered or stay and make them try and evict me and fight to get my last check?

Maybe? Its just a hot mess! If I had money already? I'd sit here and at least have a home! But I'm so broke! And being poor already like most poor people will probably have to move and take whatever they give me. Just to eat. And have the basics. It just sucks to be in this spot. Glenn is here to argue and be insulting - he can't answer a very simple question and I'm judgmental (I haven't judged him at all) and mean and has resorted to "look I'm not using any punctuation" to prove his point.

I understand, with his people skills, why he was let go.

Glenn also doesn't have a clear picture of what he wants, and he doesn't want to listen.

I will agree, Glen is not listening, he has no knowledge of why he is in this, he had no idea how he was being paid, and about his rental.

He merely needs to move and find another place to live.
