I have wondered... and put together a few pieces, but they are only speculation.

When ex and I were divorced, he had a scheister of an attorney whom... come to find out recently, is really a personal injury and worker's comp attorney. When I did some further research, I discovered said attorney lived in the same town ex's family lived in during the early 1970's. Ex's father was a history professor at the University, then later a management consultant for a large Accounting firm. The attorney who represented my ex on the hit and run case and is listed on the dismissed charges is with the same firm as the scheister. Coincidence? I think not.

Me thinks Daddy had a friend who is an attorney who helped 'baby boy' out when it looked eminent that baby boy would be charged with Hit and Run. Mommy and Daddy have been paying all the bills (including rehab expenses) for the past three plus years. You can bet they protected him from being prosecuted on the Hit and Run, as it would limit his employment options, thus further bleeding their retirement account.

I cannot prove the alleged relationship, but what do you bet I'm right? I'm sure it's a "who you know" kind of deal.

I say this as kindly as I can - you know (I trust) that I have agreed with you in the past concerning your problems with your ex.

No one who "wins" a case or comes out ahead or however you want to phrase it thinks there is some conspiracy. Any number of people who do NOT "win" or come out ahead think there IS a conspiracy. I work in "the system." When I got divorced my ex insisted that I had some connections, that I pulled strings. We settled according to the Law and I jumped through the same hoops everyone else jumped through, if not MORE hoops because people in the system know/knew me. He was angry and bitter - and for no reason. We settled according to State Law - and took every cheap shot he could.

If you think it is possible that strings were pulled, then report it to the Bar and/or the Judiciary NOW - don't let someone else get railroaded and don't wait until your next Court appearance - or his - to make the allegation.

Otherwise this has become a relationship question, not a legal question.

Yes, Judy - I respect your input. I also realize that being in the position I'm in, it's natural to feel I've been treated unfairly.

I have a very good friend whose ex-husband is a circuit court judge in an adjacent county so I know there are things (discussions, deals, agreements, etc.) that are made in judge's chambers that can affect the outcome of a hearing. No one else knows about what goes on in chambers except for the parties involved.

If there were strings pulled in this particular case, I will find out. And when my suspicions are confirmed, I will report it to the bar. I need evidence, however, which I don't have just yet.

    Thanks again for your input.
