Anyone know if frozen baked potatoes are sold in the grocery stores here in the US
I sometimes do not have time to get home and put a potato in the oven for my hubby.

His favorite thing to go with his dinner is a baked potato

I see farmhouse makes frozen baked potatoes but they are located in the UK

Does anyone like oreida sell frozen baked potatoes in a bag at the store?

    Thanks

I know you can buy frozen twice-baked potatoes. Baking a potato in the microwave is so fast and easy, why would frozen baked ones make any difference?

The ones in the UK are made by McCain which has its US corporate office near me (and one of my sons works there), so I'll try to find out if they are planning to launch this in the US. I'm betting they are.

My husband hates them microwaved. If I make one like that for him he refuses to eat it. He is a pain in the butt

They are such a huge success in the UK, so that's why I'm betting McCain will market them here too. Tell your husband to sit tight and be patient. If son Jeremy knows any inside information, I will tell you. ;)

Frozen baked potatoes are a special process. If you try it at home, it won't work, say two or three in foil and freezing them. The potato iis reduced to mush in the freezer.

This calls for doing a few ahead in foil and putting them in the fridge.

Quite frankly I wouldn't put up with that, working and all. What is he doing, sitting on hs butt?

He is going away this week and I want ot make a lot of "easy" meals for when he comes home I can just toss them in the oven or microwave instead of cooking in 95 degree weather for him
I work in between his hours cleaning houses.
I won't put up with it much longer. In the fall or winter I am moving out.

He is picky too. I made "foiled-baked" potatoes before and he hated it.
I usually put a potato in the oven and pick him up from work but lately I do not make it home in time to do so. I do not care if he hates it. From now on I will bake them at night and HE can heat them up in the oven when we get home. I make him fry his own meat now so why not potatoes too.
He will have to get use to it when I leave him LOL

Honestly if he did not know how some were made he would not know the difference. Microwave, real over, in foil, please, he sounds like he is looking for a reason to fuss.

And if he thinks putting a potato in the oven is too much work, he has been spoiled way too much.

    I agree whole-heartily!!
He is not just fussy but no one in our house can do anything right but him!
I am so happy I almost have the money I need for my own car and in a few months me and my daughter are out of here!

Because he still is my hubby and I still have to keep the peace before I do leave him. I do not want too many "fights" before "I plan to leave"

If I did that I would have some serious problems.

I'm wondering if you could bake some potatoes ahead, using McCain's method (ask me), then refrigerate until wanted, pop them into a hmmmm 375-degree hot oven for ten minutes or so to reheat and crisp the skins.

Should I move this thread to a discussion board? I think this can turn into a very educational thread.

This never works for me. I think it has something to do with mollecules of the white part of the potato. In any event, you guys are not reading back because I suggested this as well, but only works when rapped in foil to bake first. They never taste the same when heated up and are waxy.

OP stated she has been working towards leaving spouse and he will soon have to do this himself.

I'd bake them wrapped in foil, just like Mom does, but would reheat them outside of the foil so the skins get crispy.

Why? I asked a simple question and got lots of answers of how not to look for baked potatoes in the grocery store. I think the original amhd from years ago was against not actually answering the question. How about just deleting my question. Too many people wanting to know more about my relationship that I am trying to avoid because I do not need more people telling me to go on welfare to leave him now instead of later on when I plan to and not have to be on welfare. I just wanted to make things easier for me until that time and I put that down numerous time and still get rude comments

I couldn't care less about your relationship.(Well, sort of, but... ) I want to discuss potatoes! (My mom is from Idaho and my son coincidentally works for McCain. Potatoes rule! And this is a food board.)

I think it's more of a relationship question since he seems to require baked potatoes at each meal and does not seem willing to bend.

You don't but others seem to if you read the comments.

But this is a food board, and we can't try to change his mind unless he registers and joins us on this thread. Then he would be at our mercy! We could have him cooking Thanksgiving dinner if we play our cards right.

jujubees, you see it is ALL about the relationship since he is so hell bent on particular baked potatoes or he gets ballistic. It's not about food, or discussions, but more on the way he treats you if he doesn't get it the way he likes it.

No it is not! I asked if baked potatoes in the store and people told me to tell him to cook them himself and they started the "relationship" stuff not me. I just explained why because I felt people were calling me a "lame" wife for cooking for him.

All I wanted to know if frozen baked potatoes are sold in the store. Nothing more and nothing less! Thanks for your input though! I will just ignore them next time and only reply to people who answer my "food" question.
Like you- thanks for the info about potatoes not working well from the fridge.

I am just surprised that comments like that are allowed here
Y!A does not allow such remarks

I may be new here but seems kind of strange to me

You brought up the leaving, not us, up to that point is all potatoes.
I don't think anyone on this thread suggested welfare or the like.
My comment was not meant to be rude, simply that small things at your house seem really big.
Back to potatoes I think that question has been answered, I love potatoes, but when I want a baked one, I do it the old fashioned way, in foil and in the oven, I reheat them in the oven like others have mentioned and they are fine by me.

How about this -- I'll call McCain's corporate office tomorrow and find out if they plan to sell the baked potatoes in the US soon and if they have inside info on preparing them ourselves.
