    The GED is the same as the h.s. diploma, and that's what one gets when one has dropped out of high school. The E in GED means "equivalent" which means "equal" or "the same as." It would be very unusual if a h.s. allowed you to return after being dropped out for a while plus high schools don't have classes at night.

    What's wrong with a GED?

    Actually I took night school for high school credit diploma not ged. There is nothing wrong in doing ged I just preferred taking high school during the night.

    I think that's the lazy way out. I rather work for my diploma.

    Oh, in a GED class you will work, condensing many weeks of study into a lot fewer. In fact, it will probably be the hardest work you will do in school, unless you get into grad school.

    I've checked extensively for the Chicago area. Once you are out of high school and must take night classes, the GED is the only way to get a high school diploma. And there is an awards ceremony to which you can invite friends and family.
