The product I want a Bluetooth keyboard for says it only allows a HP Bluetooth keyboard, iinfrared Belkin and one other kind I don't remember what that is. Why does it matter what brand of Bluetooth keyboard one can use with the product it will be paired with? From doing research on HP Bluetooth keyboards I found out not all HP Bluetooth keyboards will work with the product I want it to be paired with. I was wondering why that is.

Bluetooth is not a universal standard. The computer side uses a Bluetooth manager software to allow for a connection between the computer and the device. The device has to be compatible with the Manager software.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of wireless keyboards. The only value I see in a wireless keyboard is for a living room based PC where you want to sit back on a sofa or easy chair with the keyboard in your lap. Even then you have a problem of where to put the mouse.

What is a Bluetooth manager software?

I heard Bluetooth keyboards can be used with over 200 devices to include different versions of PDAs and cell phones. If other devices can be used with a Bluetooth keyboard what are they.

    Snowflake,

Do you try thinking about your questions before you ask them? What do you think a Bluetooth Manager software would be?

A bluetooth keyboard might be used with any device that supports Bluetooth and allow input via a keyboard.

You can use a bluetooth keyboard with some PDAs, Pal Pilots, Cell phones... as long as they support it. That's about the only reason I would use one, aside from the bluetooth keyboard available at thinkgeek, which I would only get because it's cool.
