Oh, and another one was "The Skeleton Key" with actress Kate Blanchet.

I think house of a 1000 corpses is pretty intense!
I'm a fan of "The Blair Witch Project." Scary without a lot of gore. Messes with your head on all of the stuff you were afraid of growing up - getting lost, sounds in the night. When I first saw it in the theater I was riveted.
This one is creepier

I'm going to have nightmares tonight
Thanks XOXO.
I think I just died inside.
No sleeping for me tonight.

No problem :D
Hide behind a tree, make the sound... when they are looking around to see where the sound came from, step out from behind the tree and zombie walk towards them... they will drop their candy and run... therefore more candy for you... :)
Event Horizon, and yes Descent and quarantine were freaky too.
A good one was the unborn and forget kc I'll hold you
Maybe I am a bit late for the movie night list, but thought I would add some. :)
The Omen
The Others
The Messengers
The Wicker Man
Gothika
Not horror horror but a good story;
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0161081/
Hide & Seek
Saw (the first one, rest of the sequels seem to be going downhill)
Saw this when I was in my teens and never again will I look at a doll the same way. :O
Child's Play (1988)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chucky_...ld%27s_Play%29
Ju-On (the grudge)
The Ring (Japanese version)
Shutter
The_Godsend
Dark Water (Chinese )
Children of the Corn was scary when I watched it in my teens, still gives me the creeps because they are children.
Enjoyable horrors were many of the Tales from the Crypt episodes.
I liked 1408 too.
I saw:
Jennifer's Body

Megan F is hot. Decent movie. Wouldn't waste my money on going to the theater though..
Hotness scale from 1-10 it would be a 9.5 because A) Megan Fox B) The lesbian little makeout session C) The cute boys
Scary level: 4, it didn't make me jump or pee myself or keep me up at night.

Quarantine and The Exorcist, the first one with Linda Blair.
I'm a sucker for zombie-ish "it-started-out-as-an-infection" kind of thing, makes me feel like I'm in the film, like thinking of what I'd do if I was in that situation.
As for the Exorcist, I guess it's the only film where they show a scary thing in broad daylight, no annoying shadows to hide the demon's face and all.
Threads is without a doubt the scariest film ever... not a horror though.
I've been a hardened horror fan for 28 years now, and nothings scared me as much as that, except maybe for watching Dawn of the Dead at the age of 5!
Other than that, the creepiest films for me are
Candyman
Halloween (the original)
The Ring (Japanese version)
The Excorcist
Rosemary's Baby
TCM (the original)
And the sickest/goriest are
Nekromantik
Cannibal Holocaust
Day of the Dead
Salo
And finally take your pick from any of the new breed of torture movies (Hostel 1&2, Wolf Creek, Frontieres etc)
Entity - 80's movie with Barbara Hersey... good flick.
Nightbreed
Hellraiser
The Omen
