    It's not being backwards at all. Right now, you just feel that you need positive praise for what you do because of not being sure of who you are. Hey, which person does not like to be complimented on playing great music or writing good poetry? Which person who loves to cook does not want others to praise them and ask for the recipe? It's normal to want our achievements noticed, but it should not be the only reason for acquiring our talents.

    Just keep on doing the things you like doing and one day you will have those around you who appreciate what you do and WHO you are - it's all in one individual - can't be separated, so be patient with yourself.
