I don't know if this is the right category for this - I trust it will be moved to something more appropriate.
I just had a bad experience with a local Pharmacy which fills my prescriptions automatically. My credit card info is on file so when I go in to pick up my prescriptions I give my name, verify my address and am handed the prescriptions.
Today I noticed that I am very low on one prescription, called the pharmacy and was advised that the automatic refills were picked up 10 days ago and charged to my account. It happens that I was working out of town that day and could NOT have picked them up.
I have absolutely no explanation - for all I know the prescriptions were placed back in stock, never picked up and charged to me.
My guess would be that somebody was handed the wrong prescriptions and may or may not have realized it - how you wouldn't realize that it's not your name on the bottle is beyond me, but I'm sure it happens.
At any rate - the "automatic credit card" payment arrangement is, in my eyes, dangerous. They have no signature whatsoever on file and have no idea if I picked up the prescriptions (which I did not do) or if they were handed to someone else.
I have removed it from the pharmacy's system and am busy trying to reach my Doctor to get refills approved.
- A word of warning.
