No, the brain feels no pain. There are not nerve endings in the brain such as we have elsewhere on our bodies.

You see, during brain surgery the brain has to remain "active" so that the surgeons can "test" the brain by asking the patient certain questions and the patient giving appropriate answers. If the brain were "numb" then it would not be able to respond to the stimulation necessary to complete the specific surgery.

Only the outside of the scalp is numbed so that the surgeon can make the appropriate surgical incisions.
