Rash that looks like Chicken Pox.
Good Evening...
I am a female in my 40's. Have had Type I diabetes for 30+ years. Had the chicken pox when I was around 7, and shingles when I was in my 20's. I recently developed a skin rash that I can't figure out. It started with the skin itching, then hives broke out (not uncommon-I break out in hives since I was little due to hot/cold), but now I have spots appearing all over my body that look and act just like the chicken pox. I itch terribly, the spots turn into blisters with clear fluid and then crust over. Went to doctor and he put me on an anti-itch med for hives and an allergy drug. He feels I'm having an allergic reaction to something. I have never had allergies before and can not recall changing anything in my life style. This is going on for 6 weeks now (just went to doctor 3 days ago). Any guidance what this could be? I have it on my legs, stomach, chest, few on arms and back. Even when sore is crusted over... it still itches. I think this doctor is looking down the wrong road. With diabetes, my immune system is low, therefore, could it be possible to get chicken pox again? Or does anyone know of any other rash this could be? I've researched for weeks now and cannot pin point an answer. Thanks!!
