    Smell in urine
For the past few days I have noticed a strong smell when I urinate. Can you tell me the cause, and should I be worried?

If you are worried, go to your doctor, we can't diagnose you over the internet.

I will guess though, but know that this is only a guess. Are you drinking enough water? If not, that could be the cause. Also, have you recently eaten asparagus? Asparagus causes your pee to smell really bad, but usually only for around 1 day after eating it.

Either way, these are just guesses, only your doctor can do tests if you are concerned about this.

    Good luck.

    Strong smell of ammonia?

Urine can have different concentrations of chemicals and different depth of yellow color depending how much plain water it is composed of. Dark yellow, strong concentration of ammonia and other chemicals, strong smell.

Urine can also smell strong and unpleasant from eating asparagus or having uncontrolled diabetes, for example. What is your alcohol consumption?

What about failing kidneys? Sore near your lower back?

If drinking a lot of water doesn't clear up all the problems-the smell in a few hours, call your physician immediately and get a consultation.

    Best wishes,

First try drinking more water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day for 3 days or so and strong smell should go away if all is well. If smell continues, gets worse or begins to be painful or you begin to have discharge see a doctor A.S.A.P. Good Luck and treat your body good! Jami
