I live in Norfolk Virginia and for the past week and a half I keep finding these things in my car. How are they getting in? And omg! They fly! Seriously? And now I'm reading they bite. What can I do? I vacuumed the car and can not see anymore... but then I eventually see another one! Help!

I picked up a stink bug on my back porch, and it immediately bit my right index fingertip. The pain was instant, and felt just like a bee sting, but it didn't swell or turn red. It hurt intensely for a couple of hours, then itched for several days. I had never heard of them biting.

Yes they do bite, I woke up the other morning at 3 am and I felt something on my neck and I swished it off and turned on the light, it was a stink bug, I looked at my neck you could see a pin size spot but the whole mark was the size of a dime and it was very sore for about 3 days and now it is still red, dry rashy feeling

On October 22 I took a cycling class at our gym. During the class I kept feeling a biting pain on my inner thigh. I was wearing tight spandex capris and just thought that maybe the threads in the seams were balled up or something. When I got home and went to the bathroom a stink bug fell out of my capris and I had a bright red painful welt on my innner thigh. I cleaned it off with peroxide and covered it with neosporine and a band aid. It turned a sick yellow on the bite and a dark purple on the outside edges. When I pressed the bite area it felt like there was an indentation under my skin. It developed a black scab that itched and when it fell off there was a deep indentation where the scab was, like 3 layers of skin deep! It has been 3 weeks since I have been bitten and it still has not healed properly and still itches.

I got bitten by a stink bug which made it's way into my bed! It was the night before Thanksgiving. It stung like crazy, was red at first, then turned purple like a bruise. Today, three days later, the skin is still purplish-red, and the skin is dry and scaly. I didn't think stink bugs lived so long into the autumn; we've had a few hard freezes in the last few weeks! The bad thing is that the bite happened just below my right eye, and it was teary for the first 24 hours. Also, my sinuses on that side were congested and my nose ran, too.

One of the members got something called Clobex lotion from a dermatologist. Maybe you should try that?

UPDATE**** It has now been 38 days since my encounter with the stink bug. It has still not fully healed and still itches. The scab has finally gone away, but 2 weeks ago the scab pulled off and I had a hard time trying to stop the bleeding. I finally had to resort to folding a gauze pad over into quarters and using medical tape. Last week I noticed that it was very itchy and when I looked at it there were tiny blisters on one side of the affected area. My skin is still discolored and it looks like a bad bruise. Who knows if it will ever go away?

I can't believe all of these posts! About a month ago, my wife was stung or bitten by a bug that was caught between her thigh and her pant leg. She felt it crawling around and when she clamped down on it in fright, it stung/bit her. According to her, the bug was definitely the size of a stink bug (she felt it through the material), but when she went to the bathroom, she couldn't find it. Apparently, it fell out of her pants on the way. Anyway, the probascis/stinger broke off in her leg, but it was too deep to get it out. It looked like a black cactus needle stunk under her skin. It caused they area to become red and tender, so she put antibiotic cream on it for weeks. But one day the area swelled up terribly---about one inch by two inches, oval-shaped, centering around the bite. She went to the doctor who told her that she had a sever infection, and they had to cut her skin, remove the probiscus, and then squeeze out the pus. It was unbearably painful, and then she had to take an antibiotic for a week. Anyway, I'm writing for two reasons: (1) no one (including the doctor) believed us when we said that a stink bug bit/stung her; (2) it's important to get the bite treated right away, because they can get infected very easily... and it really hurts.

Got bit by a stink bug, was asleep when it bit me. I did feel though, the pinch, it woke me up and i knocked it off me. (at the time i did not know what it was though) when i got up i had a raised red mark on my right leg sort of shaped like the head of bug. And on my left leg the shape was almost like a triangle or the shape of its antennae. Both bite areas had yellowish color around them. Right now it has been about 8 hours and the pain is still there and it has radiated down my right leg. And the bites are beginning to itch too. I also feel week with muscle ache. No fever though. The stink bug was very big that bit me, it was lying on the floor next to my bed where i discovered it. Don't know if it was dead, dying, stunned from my smacking the ba jee bees out of it or if it was just chilling after it probed me and sucked some of my blood. i'm on lots of meds for asthma so the meds might have killed it... the steroids alone should have made it explode. But whatever the case, stinky mcstink bug does bite and i pray my legs don't fall off. I will call my doctor tomorrow morning.

Just this week I was camping and took my shoe off, stood on the grass by our esky/fridge and got stung on the bottom of my foot by something. It immediately stung really bad and I put stingoes on it thinking it was a green ant bite. But when that usually helps, the pain was getting worse. Shortly after my foot was swelling up and felt like my foot was going to explode. Was going to try vinegar which I know helps with ant bites, but didn't have any at the time, so opted for ice. That took away the pain when my foot went numb!! But the swelling and pain stayed all night. Not sure what that was, but the next morning a stink bug landed on my shirt. I tried to flick it away and then asked my husband to do it. Then about 30 seconds later I realised that I had similar strong pain as the night before. I looked down to find a red patch on my thumb and then I compared both my thumbs to fnd that it was swollen. That was 48 hours ago and is still swollen. Has a little black dot on my skin now and if I pinch the skin together it feels like the pain is still there - but when left alone is not bothering me. I have been sleeping quite a bit but thought I was tired from sitting around relaxing and doing not much for a few days. Just now thought I would research to see if I was crazy - I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that has experienced this, I thought I was over-reacting - but gosh it hurt like crazy when I was stung on my foot - maybe a couple stings if I had actually stood down hard on the animal and it wanted to get away? But when I went back to look around the spot I couldn't see any insect/animal.

I had a stink bug crawling up my leg. I shook it off and when I came in the house I noticed a bite that resembled a mosquito bite. It was in the same spot where I saw the bug. However, for me it itched, did not heard.

I just got bit by a stink bug && everyone thinks I'm crazy, but all these post I'm reading sound like what's going on... I woke up to a smell of the stink bug. But when I turned on the light there was no stink bug to be seen. I came down stairs to get shorts to change cause I was paranoid that it was on me. That's when I noticed my arm was burning, there's a little yellow brownish bump in the middle of my forearm && its all red around it, its burns really bad, but its doesn't itch (yet). But my arm is starting to hurt really bad from my elbow down, its like a 'no blood circulation' feeling, I called to emergancy rooms to see what they think & they never heard of such a thing. I ended up finding the stink bug behind my bed. The one thing that makes me KNOW I got bit by a stink bug is that I smelled the bite, & its smells like 10 stink bugs got crush on me... its gross, & the smell won't go away. Its 730 in the morning & there's no reason for me to be up this early, but I'm so paranoid I can't fall back to sleep... but now I know I'm not the only one who has been biten

YES they do bite> I researched stink bugs about 2 years ago and they can bite.My grandson is bitten over most of his arms legs and back.Turns out his bedroom is infested. It first looks like a pimple or even a flea bite and swells and looks like a lump and is very red as it begins to go away it swells and almost looks like a bruise. So if someone tells you they don't bite they are full of it

For years, doctors and exterminators alike have said that stink bugs don't bite, but I myself have had a narley reaction from a bite on my back that a stink bug done. It has an appearance of MRSA or Hidradenitis when so which looks like a Staph infection. I am not sure of the bacteria strain that these buggers have, but if you are reacting in a place where you had seen this bug bite, you can count on its from that. Just because these are doctors, doesn't make them God. These buggers have gotten snarley this year and if these Dr.'s would take 2 minutes to look on their lap tops and see all these people with the same reactions and having the same claims, they would see that it is real. I am sure that stinky venum they have cannot be kosher for our immune systems. My daughter has reason to believe that she got bit by one and her leg is nasty looking and it is bad but the doctors are going in a completely different direction with treatment and guess what, its not getting better.

Hey, I am not a member of this site or whatever but same thing happened to me. Stink bugs are also known as "Assassin Bugs" due to their bite. They sting a lot (and smell too), and for more than 99% of the population it is relatively harmless. It will regularly leave either a red or orange rash (sometimes both), but it is no real problem. It stings similar to a small jellyfish sting, and the ways to make it stop hurting are basically the same. Baking soda/hydrogen peroxide/urine will stop the stinging, and the skin discoloration will return to normal anywhere from 3 hours to a week from the bite. If you have any topical benadryl or something similar it will help the process as well. I find using the hydrogen peroxide to be the best as it eliminates the majority of the odor and dulls the pain. It shouldn't hurt for more than an hour TOPS. If it is just localized it is not an issue; however, if you have difficulty breathing or feel light headed call 911 immediately and before they arrive try to take some liquid benadryl or anti-inflammatory such as steroids/epinephrine. Hope this helps!

Additionally, stink bugs are not known to be carriers of anything serious so don't worry about it

One got me this morning too. Got into my jeans and bit me on the leg. Yes, it was a stink bug! NO QUESTION about it! Apparently, those who have never been bitten insist it was some other kind of bug. No mistake about the smell and they are evrywhere! Hoping I don't get the other symptoms mentioned above. I will remember to check my clothing from now on before I put it on! These things are a plague!!
