    Re-arranging equations
    Please can you help with rearranging the following equation for X?;
    a=(b-x)/x

    Remember that you should always do the same thing to both sides. The tricky part in this one is separating x from it's factors.

    1. multiply both sides by x
    2. add x to both sides
    3. factorise the lhs
    4. divide through by your factor of x

    This should give you your answer. Let me know if you have trouble.

    This is the tricky step I was talking about. You need to factorise the left hand side, both terms have a common factor of x. The rest should be obvious after that.
