Yes, it's 8. That is the Fibonacci sequence.
FINALLY! A real mathematical sequence!. but galactus still beat me to it.
Yes, I agree, Asterisk. Enough of these wacky sequences. The Fibonacci sequence is a beautiful thing. It's implications are practiaclly infinite. The Golden Ratio ties is directly related to them. The Lucas sequence is another variation on a theme.
I wrote a little program for my TI that generates the nth Fibonacci number.
Go to this site for lots on the Fibonacci numbers:
Fibonacci Numbers, the Golden section and the Golden String
The number which best completes the sequence below
10,30,15,16,48,24,25
1. 45
2. 75
3. 72
4. 47
5. 70
This one is pretty easy. Try looking for patterns. I usually start doing it this way:
Write out the difference between adjacent numbers and write out the quotient of adjacent numbers. Often this will show you simple patterns.
In this case doing those two things was enough to show me what the next number will be.
It's pretty arbitrary, not of any mathematical significance, if that helps you.
I have a sequence of 1 8 27 64 125 and search for the general term formula. Can somebody help?
tsingara, you should have started a thread for your question, and not continue from the thread of someone else.
And for your question, look for cubic numbers.
