    Tarot cards.
    I do tarot cards.
    Does anyone believe in them?
    Because I do.
I was just wondering what someone thought of them.
    :)

I've thrown tarot for years. I love it. Nothing better then turning to the cards in a crisis. They always shed some light

I think it's crap and like most things in the psychic world if you believe it you will find a way to make the meaning of the card apply to your life.

That's how they work, they make you look at aspects of your life. All the meaning comes from within you, not from the cards.

Yes, the meaning comes from within you. But many believe that the cards help to direct you to where to look within yourself.

I did tarot cards. In fact I ran the gauntlet of the occult and Astrology, even tried the Ouija Board. Read a lot about it all too. Then came to the conclusion that they were just tools to help me focus. I still do the speculation and visualisation, and have an interest in personal and spiritual growth, but I no longer need those tools. I now use relaxation and meditation, and it works wonders. Being alone with yourself in quiet contemplation tells you all you need to know about yourself and the world around you.

Yes! Tarot totally works. Keep your mind open to other things too. Sometimes people get so focused on the cards that they miss other signs in their lives, like dreams or intuition. I've done tarot for over 7 years now. Good luck! Check out some of the cool decks online- you can find just about any theme.

There is this one website I got to called Tarot, Astrology, I-Ching Numerology, and Feng Shui: Tarot.com.
It is a pretty cool website when you are bored.

    There are 2 old expressions:

    The cards never lie.

    Spirit never lies.

Best of everything in your Spiritual journey.

I love the tarot. I do them often and to tell you the truth. They don't lie to me! Which is creepy... oh well!

I once did a reading using 3 different methods (bcoz I didn't like what was being said to me by the cards lol)and the same card kept coming up over and over again in the position for final outcome.. it was really weird. I am not sure if it was just coincidence but it was just weird.
Anyway I am not very good at interpreting the cards . I only use the major arcana and got them primarily just to do a divination before I make a spell not really for fortune telling...

Can anyone provide the best common interpretation of the major arcana cards? That would be great thanks. Bcoz I am lost with all those different interpretations out there I don't know which is right anymore..

The best site I've found so far for good, general interpretations is Learning the Tarot - An On-Line Course. Just click on the Cards link.

There are allot of mixed emotions about tarot card readings. I for one would have to say that it what people make it believe. It's good for a hobby and entertainment.

I find Tarot cards not to be about belief or about telling the future but are a way of focusing on a problem when you yourself have no focus. That way when I read the cards I use them to see what the problem really is not how to solve it or what is going to happen, those are things I do myself the cards I use to simply focus, they lay out the situation, it is me who identifies the meanings with the problems at hand.
Like Marcus Aurelius said: Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future, too.

~Although I say this you got to be open minded when you read the cards, I find its more about adding another perspective. Ive seen to many people go oh la dee da the cards say everythigns going to be great, cards don't speak last time I checked, interpretation is a big part of it in my opinion.

I've been reading Tarot for 10 years now and I have a lot of memories worth sharing. I am a firm believer in the cards, but I feel that there is a little more to it than it seems at first. What I mean is that A) Sometimes cards are not meant to be read, or the person you are reading for is not meant to know what the cards say, and B) If you read the future for someone, it can change because they now know it, and C) Probably 75% of card readers are full of BS.

Oh, this is a great thread. I love what everyone's said, even the skeptics. That's what's so great about Tarot, it's a folk art, folk wisdom, an accretion of images and ideas from many places and people and cultures, and in our modern world it's gotten a whole new influx. I guess you could say Tarot was the original Wikipedia. ;)

BTW one of my favorite online Tarot resources is Tarot: Tarot Cards, Reviews, Readings & Community - Aeclectic Tarot

I love tarot cards. I've been doing them almost as long as I've been Wiccan (9 years). But I don't use any books for my interpretations of the cards. Raymond Buckland says that the books should just be used as a reference. If you always use the book then what happens if you do two readings for two different people and get the same cards in the same layout? While that may be unlikely it is possible. Does that mean that they have the same future? Of course not, each card has its own interpretation for different people. I let the Goddess speak through me when I'm reading the cards. So I guess in reality I'm not "reading" anything, just saying what the Goddess is saying. She is the real interpreter.

    100% definitely believe.

My dog had a stroke once and I asked if she would get better. The answer I got (when I looked it up in the book) was 'An end to all suffering. A week later we had to put her to sleep because the medicine wasn't working and shehad another stroke.

I've given small eadins for friends and they always work out, do it mostly for myself though.

    They're never wrong.

The original poster of the question asked for opinions and I gave mine, I think tarot cards don't really do anything, people who believe in them choose to find meaning in the cards they see. That is MY OPINION

I got my tarot cards read with my sister, she said I would be the "happiest family" in a "9", she said meaing 9 months, days or weeks. I found out a few weeks later that I was pregnant and had conceived right around that time, coiencedence? I don't think :) She also described my sister unhealthy relationship and her whole current situation really to a "T", it was amazing... im going back again soon!

I remember my first tarot reading. It's what got me into Wicca in the first place. I was in 8th grade on our "end of the year trip" to Six Flags. One of my friends pointed out a psychic booth. We went in and this old gypsy women read my cards then I bought my own deck from her. She told me I was going to end up doing something with buildings. She was right. Even though I'm in college for Finance, upon graduation I want to start a holding company and have at least 60% of my assets be in commercial real estate.
