And I mean movies that really moved you and touched you, so not like comedy or horror movies please. Thank you!
Oh and also not really really old classics like Casa Blanca or anything like that! Lol. 90's and newer would be nice lol.

These are the movies that if I stumble upon while flipping through the TV channels I will always stop and watch, for the umpteenth time:
1. Airplane (yes it's a comedy, but the best of all time)
2. Fargo
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Apollo 13
5. Saving Private Ryan
Thank you!
Sorry, but I believe comedies can move you:)
Frequency (can't watch enough)
Dave (funny and perfect)
Jaws (I believe is a perfect movie) it has everything:D
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (it moved me:rolleyes:)
Forest Gump (wonderful way to remember history)
Gone with the Wind
Somewhere in Time
Platoon
To name only a few...
Stringer
Pulp Fiction
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Flesh Gordan (A '70's classic)
Dances With Wolves
Deep Throat
Royal Tannenbaums
Natural Born Killers
Apocalypse Now
Thin Red Line
Full Metal Jacket
For me, any movie that is done well, moves me. :)
Jeremiah Johnson
True Grit (Original)
Red Dawn
Red Planet
Independence Day
Dirty Dancing
Natural Born Killers
The Princess Bride
Save the Last Dance
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
La Strada (by Felini)
Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
Star Wars (the original one)
Platoon
Das Boot
Oh yes Platoon is great too. I love war movies. Thin Red Line, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now...
Same here... Was undecided about Full Metal Jacket.. parts of it was great... but it had a strange halting flow like it was a project he kept walking away from and picking back up at odd intervals.
Should have mentioned Band of Brothers... AWESOME miniseries. The Pacfic was good to, just not as good. I don't think it developed quite as well in the storyline.
I have read most of Hunter Thompsons work at one time or another. It should be required reading for all Poli/Sci and Journalism majors.
He is a personal hero of mine for giving the most honest accounts of the sixties and seventies , and other obscure reasons.
Like running for sheriff of Aspen Co. on the platform of daily use of mescaline , LSD, Peyote . Tearing up the streets and replacing them with sod , and renaming Aspen... Fat City to deter realtors.
And winning 44% of the vote. He won the city vote , the remainder of the county had the democratic candidate , on an agreement with republicans to withdraw a candidate for a different office, withdraw from the race to consolidate enough votes to keep Thompson from winning.
The MOVIE... The Rum Diary's will be out sometime this year.
Also staring Johnny Depp.
RIP Dr. Gonzo.
5. an affair to remember.
4. the princess bride.
3. the wizard of oz.
2. band of brothers.
Drum roll...
All time favourite,I can watch this over and over, KILL BILL volume 1 and 2... I want to be beatrix kiddo!
Ooo good to know abou the Rum Dairy's! I love Thompson! He was an amazing writer. RIP.
Not certain why the qualifications because what a person gets out of a movie-emotionally or mentally-is not dependent on the genera.

Fiddler on the Roof
LadyHawk (yes, I know that is six. :) )
Mel Brooks' movies
A Beautiful Mind
Awakenings

Saving Private Ryan
The Wizard of Oz
Platoon
Hamburger Hill...
Do you want me to stop now? :p
Smoothy, I know what you mean about the flow of that movie. I kind of felt that way with Apocalypse Now. Like when he was in Cambodia, I found it a bit hard to follow at times.
The only one st in stone on my list is Fear and Lothing.
I could change others for
Das Boot , One flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Catch 22 , The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy , Band of Brothers,
My list changes as I'm reminded of other movies , this crowd has excellent taste.
Nostalgic
Woodstock ,
Jesus Christ Superstar , Heavy Metal , and Animal House
The Animal House... what a dark movie! Or am I thinking of 1983? Both books were excellent.
Haha Yes I do mean 1984. When I typed it out, I knew it didn't look right. Thanks :)
John Belushi was great in Animal House. :D
I like the book Animal Farm, but I really haven't found a screen adaptation (including Patrick Stewart's) that gives me the same feeling that the book does.
I think because I was younger (13) when I read the book, I didn't appreciate it as much as I would have reading it now. The movie I saw when I was older (20ish), so it had more of an impact on me. I might just pick up that book at the library today and re read it.
Speaking of films, I just heard that elizabeth taylor died, she was stunning in her youth.
Yeah... saw some passing video of her in a wheelchair in the last few weeks. Thought to myself... its not going to be long before she meets her maker looking that bad. Sure enough it wasn't.
