Hi Chuck.

The sexaholics thread is by invite only, so not just anyone can come and talk, that's why we have the Boom Boom room etc.

Also, the Sexaholics thread doesn't give notifications when someone has posted, there aren't any smilies, etc. etc.

Would it be okay to start a fun thread in the active members forum?

Why am I thinking of ross perot and the "big sucking sound" quote?

The issue was some of the adult posts on the public board. Which of course is open to minors

No good answer, except that perhaps we should try and keep some areas more open in some way.

It's hard to find a balance. Considering that some very young people can view the Members Discussions, I think we need to keep a certain amount of decorum.

Maybe this is something I should bring up with Ben. A separate forum for adults only but with notifications and all the other bells and whistles of a regular forum.

I love the social groups forum, but even with the invite only option anyone can still come and read what we write, so it's really not keeping the minors out, just not allowing them to post.

I wonder if there's a way to do it. I'm not computer savy, so I don't know.

I agree, however, I thought my 7 year old, who is learning to read, and was outside, snuck up behind me and started to read the spanking in the Bow Chicka thread out loud. :eek:

Rarely do I read posts like these when my children are around, or awake for that matter. But my 7 year old does not have an account here and there are many young posters who do.

True J, but the issue is that anyone can still read the sexaholics thread, only members can post, but minors can still go and read and we're none the wiser because we can't even see that they're peeking.

I don't know what the balance would be.

If the invite only groups weren't viewable by all then that would be the answer, but they are. I can go into any group and read what's written even if it's an invite only group and I wasn't invited. I just can't post.

The thing is we thought in the beginning that invite only meant only the invitees could view and post on the thread, that's not the case.

I agree that we should have some way to prevent under 18's from viewing the more sexual threads, but social groups isn't the answer, at least not as is.

There has to be some way, some forum that is perhaps invite only, that is viewable only by the invitees, receives notifications etc. etc. Then the person who starts the thread can decide who is allowed in and who isn't. I know that none of the regulars would let under 18's in.

Like I said, not computer savvy, don't know if there's a solution.

True. I know I'm never happy when the phone rings in the middle of the night. I always answer it saying "someone better be dead!" It sucks when someone actually is. :o ;)

I entered this site as a guest, and found the adult room, using the link that Chuck posted in this thread, and was able to read all of the posts.

So not much privacy there, and anyone can read anything posted.

As Alt suggested, changes are in order.

Now that's really odd.
Seems a direct link to the groups can be followed by guests, but it's not possible to simply browse to them.

As I have mentioned previously Groups are a new feature of this version of vBulletin and to be honest are badly implemented.

I'll continue this discussion else where.

I have now added a Joinable group with a special limited access board.
All join requests must be authorised by me.
So if there's no age or DOB in the profile, then NO access will be granted.
Obviously if I already know you are old enough then all good.

You can find the membership in your profile area, just underneath Social Groups.
Called Group membership.
