My first was the Irish Rovers, when I was really little LOL. They were my bio mom's favorite band. Then when I was older my first was The Backstreet Boys, and shortly after that Weird Al Yankovic and The Barenaked Ladies.

My 2 favorite concerts of all time though have to be Elton John and Cher, both of whom I saw fairly recently. Ozzy Osbourne was pretty cool, too!

I'm going to date myself. I made Woodstock in the 60's. I was the Veep in a outlaw motor club and made it up there in a VW bug painted yellow called.
    "The Yellow Submarine".
The driver owned a head shop in Tampa and called himself, "Captain Grubby Chubby". We sold roach clips on the way up there to neet expenses.
We met and partied with some kids who are now rock legends. Iwas told later that we had a hellofa time. If I had known there was a group called "The Barenaked Ladies" we would have swooped them up and carried them along too.
Hey! What can I say? The 60's decade was one BIG nonstop party. I got respectable in the 70's and quit my "wild and wooly ways".

Seeing that I was born the year woodstock was going on I couldn't make it. But sometime in the late 80's I rented the woodstock movie.I know they didn't show the whole thing (cutting parts out) but I enjoyed every bit of what I seen.

    Hello:

How's this for dating? 1966 - Harry Belafonte at Red Rocks (Day-O! ). 1967 - The Kingston Trio in Hermosa Beach, California. Then, that very summer "The Summer Of Love", I saw The Grateful Dead in SF. And, things have never been the same...

    excon

PS> Would have made it to Woodstock, but I was in a Mexican jail for smuggling pot.

Let's see if I can remember correctly

Black Sabbath with Ozzy was my first

Then I think it was Ted Nugent

    After that was Nazareth.

I think it was in that order, of course back then I was watching Wizard of Oz and listening to Pink Floyd, so my memory is kind of blurry.

On a sort of side note: excellent pairings I've seen:

    1. Jonny Mathis opened for Henry Mancini
    2. Hall and Oates opened for Carly Simon
    3. Stray Cats opened for Hall and Oates.

In the first two, the wrap up was the opener coming out and joining the main gig for a few tunes. Too cool!

Of course the best concerts are where there is no opener, as was the case with Yes, Neil Diamond, Pink Floyd and James Taylor.

Humble Pie, ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones.

1972 in San Diego's Sports Arena while waiting for the Stones, people started climbing up the parking lot light poles and bending them over. When security would come after them, they would chase security out onto the street. I knew right then I had found my tribe!

Holy cow, what a blast from the past. I saw Eek A Mouse at a reggaefest.

I'm so-so on their style. The fest I was at with them was a pretty heavy one that included the likes of Black Uruhu and other heavies that I'm not really into.

I love the stuff you can whistle/hum/sing along to instead.

    Rick.In reference to Crimson,the line-up I saw was:

    David Cross: VIOLIN, VIOLA, MELLOTRON
Robert Fripp: GUITAR, MELLOTRON & DEVICES
    John Wetton: BASS & VOCALS
    Bill Bruford: DRUMS
    Jamie Muir: PERCUSSIONS & ALLSORTS.

I saw them at my local Town Hall, would you believe. It was then very small, and only held about 400 people, but the accustics of the place was amazing.I was deaf for days after the concert.

I don't remember for sure, but I think Pete Sinfield left them before my concert-going days.

Court of the Crimson King is a classic for sure.

    Picture it 1984 SummerFest (milwaukee,wisconsin).

It's summer. It's hot. I forgot who the opening act was but after they were done the crowd goes wild, finally New Edition is coming to the stage.

Here they come, BAM!! I'm pressed up against the fence as the crowd goes to the left. I can't move, I can hardly breath because of the humidity.

    I panic:eek:

I look back and yell for my sister who was swepted up in the crowd(still pushing and moving to the left to get a better view of the stage). All I see is the top her hand sticking out of the crowd yelling my name as the crowd sweeps her away.

    I panic:eek:

I start to climb the fence and get to the top screaming. Next a girl is pulling on my pant leg "Get down I can't see!!!" " I can't see!!!"

I'm looking back down at her yelling NO! No!!

A security guard picks me up over the fence as I go over the fence one of my brand new white canvas Keds get stuck in the fence.

"Would you like some oxygen??" the security gard ask me. I decline. My shoe? Where is my shoe? Where is my sister? I just sat there.

Later on it's dark, I finally find my sister "What a great concert!!"

Went back to the fence to find my shoe all trampled on. I put it on. Now it looks like I have one white shoe and one black shoe.

What a night! Didn't see the concert and ended up with a messed up shoe.

That was my first concert and that was my last concert!! Haven't been back since. LOL!!

My sister has been to many since then.

Till this day when I see a concert, a stadium full of people are start to fan myself. I can still feel the humidity.

    THE END

First concert was as a kid w parents - Kenny Rogers with Gallager opening. How's that for a first concert?

Several small time I-forget-their-names-bands and summer bring in a bunch of bands concerts.

Melissa etheridge, free concert in st louis before she was really big (man she works hard)

    Black crowes

(by the way, bruce springsteen was #4... another entertainer that works his a$$ off on stage. The man dances with his guitar like it's a lover he intends to take home soon.)

Some of the very best "concerts" I see are the live blues sessions at a local dive... but when you get a real quality entertainer like etheridge or springsteen, they raise the bar so very high its just hard to compare.

These were not my first concerts by any means, but I have seen Journey (spent the night out in front of the auditorium to get tickets) and Boston. Both were fantastic.

I took my daughter to see Kiss two years ago. Bad Mom, Bad Mom... really it was kid friendly, there were so many more kids there than I ever expected.

My first concerts were the mega group Earth Wind and Fire, an opera that was in Italian something about some guy that was happy but was crying and a fusion jazz set in Chicago. All this before I was twenty –one… which explains my diversity with music…
