I lost my FIL last November - 59 years old to a heart attack. My dad died 2 years ago of stomach cancer. This will be the first year I don't have someone to mail a Father's Day card to.

Within my close group of friends my husband is the only one with his father still alive. And his father would go to Virginia to see his other son on Father's day. So that left all of us fatherless. So we all get together on Father's day and have an Fatherless Father's Day Picnic. It is kind of theraputic and a lot of fun at the same time.

    Myth
I never knew who my dad was, or is. The only thing I know about him is his name. My mom was 15 when she got pregnant by a 25yr old and my grandpa ran him off. Then when I was about 6 maybe 7 my grandpa died so I didn't really grow up with a dad for fathers day. My family is 2300 miles away on the other side of the states. So the only family that's close is his mom and stepdad. Lifes funny like that I guess.

Happy Friday... They're watching veggie tales... for some reason that's the only thing they'll watch for any amount of time... Besides they're really good babies. They play most of the time and our comp is in the living room where their toys are... Then thank god for nap time... lol

You all are such wonderful friends.

The hospital called this morning, he was declining quickly, well at least until they moved him into a private room, LOL.

Mom and I will be staying with him tonight, John and my sister will be taking care of the kiddos at Mom's house.

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers I will keep you updated as time allows.

I got good news today. My mom's lymphoma is in remission and the doctor is now taking an observational position.

Hope things go as well as possible for your dad, J_9.

That is very good news Em, I am so glad to hear it!! Congratulations. Give your mom a hug for me.

Dad is still here as of now, Mom is "resting her eyes" in his room right now and I just had to get away for a few minutes.

I had a nice talk on the phone with Chippers today and AH yesterday. You know, these women are truly wonderful caring people. We are lucky to have them in our lives.

I have not forgotten about my bestest friend across the pond. I just don't have skype right now Laura dear. I hope your cold is getting better and that you are getting some rest.

    I will check in later.

    Love you all...

    J

That's terrific news, Em! I'm so happy for you and your mom!

J--your dad is in good hands with you. Your love and knowledge will serve him well. If there is anything at all I can do to help you, please let me know. I'll happily do the best I can to make it easier for you.

My mom went through chemo for breast cancer 2 years ago, after a lumpectomy. I know that sometimes the best help people can be for you is just an ear to listen to your frustrations that you can't do more... so... my ears are yours whenever you need them.

Rick Springfield is the only act I have ever gone to see more than once. I have a ticket stub in my high school memory book - I think the ticket price was $12.95! Can you believe that?

My first concert was the Beach Boys. I went with my dad... I think I was like 8 and I thought it was so cool that they had a beach ball for us to hit around. I of course was able to stay on my feet OK... The only thing that bounced was the ball.
