So basically it's a matzo ball, eh?
I don't know what I think Canadians do... hmmm... besides riding around on horses all day, trekking through the snow like Eskimos to purchase that special bacon. I don't care what you say, I'm going to continue to think y'all eat that stuff every day! :p I buy it sometimes in support of our neighbors to the north!

Uuhhmm, no not really a matso ball. It's like a mixture of flour, water, eggs, salt, etc. You put it into boiling water through a spaetzle maker. It has small holes in it. I'm trying to think of something close. Hmmm... I can't think of anything close! LOL. Okay, maybe think of egg drop soup. That is the closest I can come. Alty might be able to tell you exactly how she makes it. I like Knepfla better than Spaetzle (similar, but without eggs in the mix), but at the end of the day they are both yummmyyyyy! I eat the Knepfla, with pork and sauerkraut, and gravy. Oh maaaan... now I'm staaaaarving! ::licks lips::
Oh and Alty, sound like the only dif between blaukraut and sauerkraut is that it's red cabbage, and it isn't fermented as long. I've made homemade sauerkraut... it's a BIG job. I might like the blaukraut, because the store bought sauerkraut just doesn't even come close to homemade.
You probably prefer crispy bacon right Bear...
