Wild rabbit will leave their young for days at a time in order to find food. Very rarely will a mother rabbit leave her young defensless. Now, bad things can happen, mommy can run into trouble leaving baby an orphan. Most times though it's just a matter of wait and see. If 4 or 5 days goes by and bunny is still alone then it's time to call the humane society.

    You asked. ;)

Now, smarty pant kids, I have a question for you, see if you can answer it without googling.

Are rabbits and hares the same and if not, how are they different?

Hares are bigger and have larger ears, they put their ears to the ground to hear approaching predators right ?

Just wondered, never really got the answer before, this last summer my ex took in FIVE wild bunnies that his cat brought home...

I wouldn't do it, but he isn't the brightest lightbulb, I think they killed each other because he keep them all caged together too long. ::shakes head::

Well, hares do have larger ears, that's true, but there is another major difference.

I'll tell you, you can tell others, spread the word. ;)

Rabbits burrow and live underground in a society. They prefer the company of other rabbits.

Hares don't burrow, they build shelter above ground and do not live in a society, they don't like the company of other hares.

Also, babby rabbits are born furless and blind whereas hares are born with fur and sight.

Anther question, if you can answer, no Google!

    Are rabbits rodents?

They were hares, so yes, that's why they killed each other. Once they are weaned and able to survive on their own, they no longer like to be around other hares. They will fight for their territroy, to the death.

Well you can lead a seahorse to water, but you can't MAKE him drink!

Now, I said I wanted explanations! We've got one yes and one no.

Oooh, sounds like a plan. Do they have a pool there? This one seems to be a little red, at times, and the walls ooze blood.

Well isn't this interesting! My houseguest who disrupted my life for over a week, and had promised to pay his way by doing errands, walk Niki, and do minor housecleaning, will now not answer any of my phonecalls! I've got more of a mess now than before he came, and put up with all of the nonsense that came along with him being here! Screwed again! Next time tell me I know better! Grrrrrrrr!
