What a wacked day. Friday the 13th for sure.

Hospital ER was stacked and racked. Too many people off for summer fun meant subs who made mistakes.

    All day long.

I looked down. Started fixing mistakes made not by me. An hour and a half blew by like the wind.

All I can say is wow. And wow. Dizzying, maddening, dumb mistakes ad nauseum. The last one was just awful... but caught barely in time. If I hadn't seen it and fixed it and found out later... id not have slept for days. Brutal day.

There... I've said it out loud. Purged.

    Ovah.

    No more shop talk.

Muddy... you break my heart every time you post a new ava. That's a good thing. Cute brunettes jus' slay me.

All y'alls food talk made me want pad thai. Now. Please?

    ...

    Funny quote of the day.

My son was over to my place tonight.. he's 6... holding his junk and any parent knows with a boy that can really mean need of a bathroom break. I ask "do you need to go to the bathroom?" and he says "no. i was just keeping it balanced"...

    I love little kids.

No pretense. Not many filters. Funny sh#t.

    Your son is adorable KP.

I still laugh when I remember the time Jared was around 3. We were late going to a party so I suggested that father and son shower together, save time. Jared sat in the tub while it filled with water, and R stood under the shower.

After the shower Jared comes up to me and says "Mommy, daddy's pee pee is huge! Will mine be that big one day?"

All I could think is "Ya, it's huge to a 3 year old!"

    I'm a mean person. :(

    Priceless.

My son did the same. I'm nothing special and nothing sad. Hold my own. Figuratively sometimes, literally sometimes? ;)

So my son did the same thing at four... wide eyed and complimenting one night in the bathroom when he was bathing and I was using the bathroom for other needs...

And I thought... dude... you are growing like your grandfather, who was 6 inches taller than me (and I'm not short)... and... uh... a little more this and that in the this and that category...

So... I'm sure the combination of fearlessness, cute, and, well, lets just say the entire package... yeah... I'm jealous of a 6 year old.

I might have my sh#t together, but it took time. This kid... he is hard wired for naughtiness out of the gate. College fund/bail money. It is a toss up.

My daughter is the one I worry about. She's beautiful, and I'm not just saying that because she's mine.

Big brown eyes, long lashes, thick brown hair, dimples, and a smile that makes you melt. She's also smart as a whip and fearless.

She's going to cause me many sleepless nights when she starts dating. Thankfully that not happening until she's 30, if I can help it. ;)

My son is a charmer, but he lacks the confidence. Of course he's only 11 (12 in Sept) so I'm sure that will come in time. When it does, I'm in trouble, as is every female within a 10 miles radius (that's how far he can ride his bike without getting tired ;))

Fearless is so, so good and so, so bad.

Fearless is good, and bad, so very bad.

I just hope her intelligence wins over. Didn't work for me, but I never claimed to be smart. ;)

    Got to love Florida!

My daughter called me last night about 9:30 and she said, "Don't open the front door"!

Went to look out the windows on the front door, as she is standing in the street, and there is a little, baby alligator on the front porch. This one was only about a foot long. (had one a few years ago about 3 feet long)

She wasn't so worried about this one, but scared the mother might be about. Her boyfriend scared it off into the front garden... :)

    Holy moly doula!

Would they be dangerous at that age,I can imagine a bite would still hurt like hell.

They could have course bite you, and the possibility of infection would be a concern too. We get some good sized ones in the nearby park. Most often just sunning themselves on the side of the water and they usually take off if someone gets too close. Rule of thumb in Florida... if there is water, expect an alligator to be in it!

Every now and then you hear of one being in someone's swimming pool, and they can be seen on golf courses sometimes too. Talk about a water hazard when playing a round of golf!

Here's a clip of a small one in a parking lot and one that had been wandering a neighborhood:

KP, your son sounds adorable! And Alty you're right, you little girl is gorgeous. She will not only cause you many sleepless nights, but a few boys too! J will come around, he's already got a good head on his shoulders, if only he can stop hitting his little sis :p But he seems to be very caring, and loving, a great combo.

My little rug rat, we'll that's a totally different story. She is possibly the spawn of Satan. She is smart, way too smart for a 3 year old. And she remembers EVERYTHING. She is funny as hell in that smart mouth kind of way. Sometimes you don't know if you want to punish her for life or laugh your butt off. And with HUGE blue eyes, blond hair, and a voice that melts your heart, it's needless to say she gets away with way more then she should. Especially when Papa is around.

Doula, I think I would have crapped my pants to see a baby alligator. I would be no good int hose warmer states. Always paranoid and looking over my shoulder! I always wanted to go to Australia, but not any more with those Koala's on the loose!

Yep. Alligators in Florida. Went to visit my aunt and alligators in the back yard. Big ones.

Saw lots at the cape which was on the other side.

Today I'm going to 'visit' (stalk) the coffee table I'm bidding on in next sundays auction.

I'm obsessing over a coffee table.

Work tomorrow will be a welcome break from decorating the house.

Back to school for me this morning... partly looking forward to it, partly wishing it was still summer break... :)

Hope the decorating is coming along nicely red. I had several projects I intended to get to during the summer break, but they are still waiting to be sorted... so much for my plan to become better organized!. :o

Now that I've started all I can see are the flaws,I was quite happy with the house before I started.

Back to work for me tomorrow, ciara has another 3 weeks off.

The other two will hopefully be starting college in September, their exam results are out on Wednesday.

Today their freaking out!! too late to worry about it now.

They will be fine,I've more faith in their abilities then they do.

Yum! One of the things I was going to do this summer was more cooking. Now school has started back up, but I am determined to make the time to experiment a bit, at least on the weekends.

How do you like using the bread machine?
  • Aug 16, 2010, 06:41 PM
    Aurora_Bell

Well it was my first time, and it was VERY easy. I kind of felt like I was cheating. I over cooked the bread just a touch, so the crust is probably a little darker than it was supposed to be, but the bread on the inside is awesome. I am going to make home made stew tomorrow for supper, so the bread will do just fine.

Have you used the bread machine before?
  • Aug 16, 2010, 06:59 PM
    DoulaLC

No, I have looked at them but wasn't sure if they would be more work than just making it myself! Wanted to get some opinions from those who have them to decide if I want to purchase one or not.

The bread with stew sounds wonderful!

Well I had an actual sour dough kit, so all I had to do was put the water in the pan, pour the mix over top of it, poke a hole in the flour and add the package of yeast. 2 hours later I had a loaf of bread!

I make the worst bread in the world. I borrowed a bread machine to see if that would help but even that turned out horrible. Cakes, pastries, meals, anything else, no problem. Bread - forget it. Even the ducks in this vicinity are petitioning to take out an injunction against mine! :(
    Luckily I live opposite a baker's shop. :)

Uh ho... it's always so annoying if you need a little of something but you can't buy it in your required amounts... so you end up buying more than necessary...

Can you find some way to improvise? Like, place a furniture to hide this part of the wall? Of course, since I don't know how you did the previous ones, or how you want it to seem, or how much exactly is required...

    Good luck anyway Red :)
