Thanks for posting - shocking but similar things posted all the time. How sad.

Yeah, just concerned, she seems to somewhat get it, then came back to say she won't testify against him.

Hoping since the state is filing without her, they may have enough evidence. It is so often the victims won't procecute their abusers.

Look at the Rihanna case, that has me all up in arms also...

    ::sigh:: can't save them all.

I agree. It's the one thing I've always liked about my friends from high school, many of them had abusive parents, so if they saw a man hit a women... well lets just say the last time I heard about something like that it went something like this: friend A is driving friend B and girlfriend. Friend B hits girlfriend, Friend A stop car, drags friend B out beats him to a bloody pulp(think 3 broken ribs broken nose + scrapes and bruises). Then leaves friend B their to get a ride with a different friend to the hospital. Personally I think he got off light.

As stated hope she listens, not just fer her sake but for the rest of their sakes as well.

Sorry, but I don't think getting violent with a violent person teaches anyone anything - women NEED to file charges and keep insisting on pressing charges, get people arrested, find an advocate, that's what will change things. Friend A is very fortunate he isn't doing some hard time because the Court doesn't necessarily see the reason behind the beating.

All women don't have someone who will come along and beat up their abuser - but all women DO have access to the Court system. And if the Police don't listen, then you come back with friends and try again. And maybe somebody else doesn't get beaten up because that one woman took a stand.

This is very dangerous quasi-legal advice. I realize this is not the legal board but this is not a course of action to be recommended.

Agreed Judy... smart way to handle it... common sense applies... although common sense seems quite rare at times. (Sad)

I know - and I think a lot of women have experienced some type of abuse in their lifetime so this is particularly painful to read.

When I worked in a matrimonial practice I was shocked at the amount of abuse out there - everything, including sexual abuse, often at the hands of the person who "loves" you the most.

    Shudder.

(And I'm crying right along with you.)

Thanks - it's about stopping the cycle, not beating up one abuser.

I appreciate the kind words on this sad, troubling topic.

I didn't mean to get everyone all bummed.

It is ALL TOO common, it is painful that anyone could do that to someone else and worse that some people feel like they deserve that kind of treatment.

I really appreciate everyone jumping in, I really hope that with volume one of us hits that right chord and it makes sense why she needs away now.

So many people don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Everything seems real fine in the outside world, but they don't know how many woman are scared to open their mouths in public, for fear of getting the ever living hell beaten out of them when they get home. They also don't know the threats that have been made towards these women if they do say something. Trust me I know.

    Big Hugs Jude!

That is the best way to handle it and in the end empowers the woman which now I'm sure is lacking, also the mature way...

Judy if you will notice, I was not recommending something like that, just saying that women beaters are scum and deserve a good beating(no matter if its legal or not). Ofc I also think they deserve some time in jail and recommend that as the way to go. As this isn't her thread and as we are just all idly chatting I didn't see harm in throwing that out their :)

Basically id like to see him in jail, but I would also hope he gets hospitalized from some terrible "accident"

You can't play marbles in jail. You can play cards in jail, or put puzzles together, or play dominos or just watch the boob tube but then everyone has to vote on what station or show to watch!

Ok, so when do we get fed around here? I've been reading about this so-called jail and so far I haven't seen any grub!

And I don't need an envelope for your soup. I need a bag of potato chips. Anybody want to trade a soda for a bag of chips?

Ummm... wait... I uhh.. haven't been... incarcerated either??

    (anyone buying that?)

OK, OK... well, you don't really have money but can buy commissary (items to have while incarcerated... soups, coffee, envelopes, shower shoes, etc) to use yourself or barter, trade, or gamble with.

... or so I heard once.

And yes, I did... apparently she knew how to play her cards right ;)

Friend dearheart just what kind of chips are they? They look somehow different from what I'm used to eating?

What kind of soda do you want as a trade? I've got one of everything in this cell I'm in right now.
