Well I guess that means me too then since I have spent time in a psychiatric hospital. Mainly for stress and depression caused by an abusive childhood, my dad's suicide, my soldier husband getting shot in Northern Ireland in 76, almost blown up in 79 and spending almost a year in an army rehabilitation medical facility learning to walk and talk again, to say nothing of the struggle of bringing up a family and losing my only granddaughter. The circle of life - My circle.


Try to be a little more compassionate. Compassion: Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.

Don't feel bad for venting. It's healthy and your life lessons are lessons to all of us. We tend to say things in humor without thinking. So it's important that we do remind one another of the serious side to life, the painful side, so we all can be a little more caring.

I am with you Bluerose. Sometimes I get so discourgaged and completely disgusted with the joy some experience at someone else's downfall. (I am speaking in general not with what Sariai wrote - ). Think I am having a bit of a vent myself :). I see it here and I see it in real life as well. I don't see it as much here, but it does exsist.

So have your vent, you are entitled. Plus, it teaches us all and hopefully makes us just a little wiser.

Bless you Bluerose for sharing those painful memories. I don't think Sariai meant any harm at all. I have said similar things about myself, so makes me a little more aware as well.

She obviously did not mean any harm I agree. As in any large group of people you will find someone who is offended or hurt by someone else's words.

I've learned that young teen girls will cuss you out, and call you names, and give you a red square if you tell them they aren't in love, or can't have a baby.

NeedKarma, I agree. I'm on other forums, not as well moderated as this one, and some people really know how to rattle your cage sometimes. I also find that I am guilty of allowing certain comments to drag up memories and then get pissed off at the poor innocent poster. I mostly just vent... Hope I'm not too rude. I would hate that.

Oh, Bluerose! I just saw this and my heart sank. What is that old saying? "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger." Oh dear, I am truly glad you are here with us. You are 100% right about the lack of compassion.

I have learned from this site that quite a few people do lack compassion for others. But, it is not any different from life in general, as Allheart points out. It truly saddens me that some people are just too blinded by self-importance, or merely the desire to get their point across, to see it.

I agree with you too Ruby and Rose, but we have to remember that every person is individual. There are some folks who are VERY compassionate, but don't know how to express it in words. They can show compassion if they are in front of you and can see you and touch you, but to do it over the internet where it is simply words, can be hard for some people.

having empathy and compassion, while demanding more from people are not conflicting. And homogenizing all feedback into back-patting and hand-holding is, in my opinion, akin to censorship at worst and failure to accept alternative approaches at best. Then again, I haven't had any coffee yet.

what's nice about this forum is I can say what I have to say, sometimes with steel-toed boots kicking someone in the rear, while another poster can come in with soft gloves.

I'm surely not going to lose my irish temper, and I think a harder delivery is sometimes needed, esp in cases where people are choosing badly and it can and should not be happening... so I simply disagree that harder deliveries and judgements lack soul or mean any less than softer approaches.

sometimes in my life I've needed just a hug. Sometimes I needed my mother to push my back to the wall and tell me to straighten up. The mix of us makes the yin balance the yang.

now wheres my damn coffee?? Better find it soon, before I put on my "grumpy pants" and ride my "huffy bike" (all terms my beautiful, italian wife uses to belittle crotchety boys... that and "manties" (man panties)... nothing worse than to be ticked off and to have your wife ask "bunny, are your manties too tight"? You can smell the smoke come out of my ears. =)... I HATE it when she calls me "bunny" during a tiff... )

Some serious decisions are being made around here - home. Regarding the grandson I have living with me. Decision that will improve our situation, nothing to be too concerned about. But it's the sort of thing that drags up past memories, the sort of thing that can bring us down a little.

Thank you for your concern and your support. I have talked to some lovely people on here who have been so very supportive. I hate to think how I might have dealt with it all if I hadn't shared some of it on here.

It's just a case of so many family members being involved, and all going through things in their own way, that you don't want to burden them with your own worries. Which are probably unfounded anyway.

Manties just feel good OK, they make us feel pretty. I like the ones that match my manzier.
