I would but unfortunately I can't. I just spent 80 dollars at my vet to get his vaccinations and a health check and it seems he has this skin disease called demdectic mange.

That is going to cost me out the . This day can't get better, only worse.

Yes I can see that, sometimes when we think that we are the only ones that have a problem we are awakened to others situations. And we realize that we want to help all we can especially when it happens to a friend.

But giving concern and support is a good thing and sometimes that is possibly all we can do. Time is usually required and it seems to help us bring some sense to bad circumstances.

My heart goes out to my friends who seem to be in any situation that doesn't have an easy answer.

True Stringer. It can be rough sometimes. Sorry if I was complaining too much. I just have had a bad day then to see Sunny going through all this it just makes things worse then I get the call about my dog.

Chin up, you can always have a whinge to us, trust me, it makes you feel 100 times better after a good vent.

On a doggy note: Dermadectic mange is the easiest form of mange to treat so you are lucky there ;)
Usually just a few injections and it clears up.

When we lived in North Carolina and the kids were younger we had a beautiful dog/friend an Irish Setter named Lady. One of those dogs that just couldn't give you enough love. She would just want to lick your face like you had steak all over it.

She got mange and her health decreased, we took her to the vet and did everything that we could for her, but apparently it wasn't enough Adam. She passed, and it was one of the saddest things that we ever had to deal with. And both of my children experienced their first real loss, it was devastating.

I am sorry Stringer. That is so sad. I just hope after a few shots and a couple months on antibiotics he can clear up and be fine. Otherwise I can not afford to keep doing it for months and months. Don't they have a payment plan or something?

Have you had the same vet for a long time?
Usually they will accept payments if you have seen them for a while.

If you are new to this particular vet it still can't hurt to ask.

Sarcoptic mange is the nasty one, I suspect that is what Stringers dog had although I could be wrong.

Dermodectic mange is a lot less serious and is usually limited to areas around the head.

Thanks guys, this brings back a lot of pain for me.

Lady had it all over her poor body and it spread so quickly, within two days.

Yea his spots were around his head. I just now used a vet for the first time in my life. So I doubt they will let me but I will ask.

I'm sorry Stringer, there really is not a lot you could have done.
Yes there is medication but it is just so hard to treat and is often re-occuring anyway.
Keep the good memories, forget the bad ones.

A young woman near where my parents live lost her husband last year,3 kids under 10 years of age, lovely lady, but under a lot of financial pressure.
    She won 250,000 euro yesterday.

My pup has finally learned how to 'sit' when told.

There's a baby boom going on in ireland at the moment... (even in a recession people find time for some loving)

The dog shelter up the road announced they placed more dogs this year then any other.

Some good news stories to balance it out.

Everyday is a new day to make a fresh start...

    Somebody slap me please.

You don't need slapped but I will give you a pat on the back.

This thread has been sad today. We need to turn it around. I think this place bases much of my attitude towards everything else.
    Now somebody slap me.
