Oh heck no!! No tents for me! I need my queen size bed with the TV in the wall. Now that is camping. Camping on my terms means a camper with heat and AC. As well as a freezer full of ice so that I can make myself a nice cocktail... could use one right now actually.
I say use the Mom card. It is the most powerful one in the deck!!
Tuscany,
My wife's famous quote: "Why camp if there's a perfectly good Sheraton nearby?"
Ladies, let us not forget the joy of camping outside a Nordstrom's the night before the fabulous Anniversary Sale!!
My idea of camping is a 3 room tent on the Kenai River in Alaska.
Ahh J-9.
That is even a bit roughing it for me.
Where would I plug in my hair dryer... and I do so need my coffee pot in the morning.
I'm with NK on this one.
And yeah... no coffee is BAD. You wouldn't like me when I don't have coffee.
Ya don't need a hair dryer...
Plug in a coffee pot? Get a kettle and put it over the fire!!
Oh, I make the best camp coffee in the world!!
J_9,
I would be willing to try it for an hour or so, but could we have someone on standby to come and get me when I am having a hissy fit, cause I am cold, tired and hungry??
I like my coffee without the ashes... I do go old fashion though... its a perkalator from Great Grandma.
Y'know they have those voltage inverters for cars now where your lighter plug becomes a regular 120 volt outlet - you could plug in any electrical device that you want. There's your Plan B. :D
I used to feel the same way you all do until I got introduced to real Alaska Camping. Now I will never go back!
Who said anything about ashes in the coffee. Apparently I didn't make it. LOL
You need just the right pot and have your campfire configured so that it is coffee and barbecue ready. Just little camping tricks I have picked up along the way.
And you have your special honey to keep you warm at night. Jeez, no wonder I have 4 kids :o
J_9,
It must be nice and I think I could maybe do a night or two... buuuuuut, then only thing I think would get to me, is the BUGS. Ick. Eeek and ooooook.
But I bet it is an amazing experience.
So I will meet you in Alaska sometime. I have a friend who is a teacher there... you need a bush plane to get to her village... I am sure we could find some wilderness there :)
I've done every kind of camping there is... from a fully decked out RV to survivalist camping where you have to find half your food along the way.
I'd STILL rather have a hotel, a beach, some margaritas, and coffee in the mornings.
What's a bush plane?
It is a tiny tiny plane used to transport people and supplies to northern Alaska. They are used a lot in the winter when the roads (if there are roads) are not cleared.
Kara and her husband grocery shop 2 times a year... can you imagine?
