Me? No, I'm in Ohio.
Oh right. Dam bunny butt had me confused. Bella is in Canada.
Well now I can meet you half way. Somehow.
The problem is, I bike. I don't drive. That's why I suggested the truckers. They charge, but it's still cheaper than the gas to drive here and back. The only thing is, they require all animals to have their rabies shots, so kitten wouldn't be able to leave until it's at least 12 weeks. They're a few days shy of 7 weeks, right now.
How far from northeast Ohio are you? I'm only about an hour from erie, pa.
I think I am 8 hours from the PA line. I spent some time in Machanicsburg (sp?) and that was a 14 hour drive. I would really take one if we could make it happen. In all honesty I would.
Then I think the truckers would be our best bet. Here, take a look at their requirements page for transporting animals:
*PET TRANSPORT REQUIREMENTS / APPLICATION
Well, think on it. It'll be at least another 5 weeks before kitty could leave, anyway. That'll give you time to decide if it's doable, and decide who you want to adopt.
And, of course, if you have any questions about my babies, I am always happy to answer them.
Hubby calls me the animal magnet. It started when I came across someone whose children had brought home some guinea pigs without asking permission. The parents didn't want them and the original owner wouldn't take them back. The new owners said they were going to drown them if they couldn't get rid of them. I won't start on what I think of those people...
Anyway, hubby and the kids came home to find the guinea pigs housed at ours. They were actually fantastic llittle pets. Somehow since then we came to rescue quite a few more guinea pigs and a couple of rabbits. The piggies are great, they have all sorts of different squeaks and bubbly noises they use to communicate and I swear we understand just what they want now. The garden is all walled off safely so we let them out of their hutches in a morning and they have free run till bedtime. They wander in the kitchen to see what we are up to and scrounge an odd snack. If it gets near bedtime and we haven't gone out to round them up they come in to round us up and demand their supper!
The rabbits think they own the garden and if I plant a new plant anywhere they don't approve of they dig it up and make me move it. Whenever I have been gardening they do an inspection to see if they like what I have done to their domain. They play happily with the piggies though.
I have to overplant my veggy garden like mad as the animals help themselves to their share. Never have to cut the grass though. :)
Although we live in a town, far from any countryside, we get quite a few lost or injured animals just appear in the garden. We take care of them until they are ready to be on their way. Hedgehogs mainly. Had a lost ferret turn up the other day.
We had a bird once that fell off the roof before it was ready to fly. It managed to flap enough to get to ground without injury but couldn't get back up. It's mum was sqwaking like mad from the rooftop. I made it a little nest in a hole under a wall, fed it, and kept it safe from cats until it could fly. It was great seeing it practising and making progress from being able to just get up onto a small wall until it could finally fly free.
I thought that would be the last I saw of it. But the next time I was out gardening it appeared at my feet and followed me around the garden seeing what tasty morsels I might dig up. When I sat out in the garden having a sandwich it came and begged for some. As winter came it flew off and again I thought that would be the last time I saw it. Next spring it appeared again. Each year it has got a bit more distant. It doesn't come so close now or ask for food but I still catch a glimpse of it checking out it's old nesting spot and having a look around.
...
aww, that's just sweet.
soooooooo... do you think your bunnies and piggies would mind sharing their family with a kitty? ^_~
