I think my Dad would have been a lot like you, Sir Stringer. He was always very interested, but stand-off-ish in my business pursuits. Not aloof, but watching and making sure I was doing well, ready to step in if needed. He was so proud when I went to China after college...

Sorry... I'm getting sappy... I just answered a question over in Bereavement and now I'm in a mooooood. :)

I'm sure your children think the world of you as well.

    Hi you all!!

Heh heh! Cool Central Park. Sorry for not coming earlier but my internet connection is not unlimited and I spent most of it on previous threads. I've still got about 3 ours left, till the end of the month, then, 30 hours again!! I now have to go through the thread. See you perhaps later!

That's good Stringer, you sound like a great father...

I don't know why, but when I read your first post it just reminded me of the times when I wouldn't tell what my Dad thought of what I was doing. I remember times, when I was younger, not caring what anyone thought of me at the moment besides my father. I guess it's that father/son thing...

Not quite finished the reading yet. I got lost in the lower levels of the Castle and suddently, there were no more sounds from the above... I tried to get out but it wasn't an easy way. Well, when I got out, the sunlight amazed me. I was for such a long time in the dark!

Now I hear of a 'dark ducky' impersonating Queen Starby!! I'll look for it at once.

    *quack* *quack*

Isn't that it in the distance! Ok, where's Lighting? Ah, here you are, my horse. Quick! Follow the duck!!

Oh, Rebbie just learned of your birthday... sorry to be late, but I was trapped in the castle's secret basement, I got there through your 'door', remember?

Thank you so much for the "Happy Birthday" wish Unky!! So many friends here made my day very special! If you have to get older, may as well do it with special friends like you and the others!! Thanks again!

You were missed this weekend. Good to see you back. :p

What did you see in the secret basement? I was too scared to try to go through that door! You surely are a brave one. I do have more courage now. Maybe when the Castle reopens, we can all discover all the secret passageways of the castle and the mysteries that lie within!!

HC, do you mind me asking how old you were when you lost your father? Losing mine was so difficult. I didn't realize how much he was my earthly anchor until he was gone. I am sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter how long ago, or so it seems for me and my friends, it still leaves such a void in our lives. He sounds sort of like my dad in being a bit stand-off-ish but always there, ready to help if needed. I am sure you made him very proud!! :)

Well, hi Rebbie! It was pitch dark inside, I managed to get a few steps, then WHAM! The passage closed, I don't know how. I got out my pocket lamp torch and wandered my way out as fast as possible. Then I saw a large empty cage, with the lock freshly broken.

Wait! Can it be that... Can it be that it's there that the morphing duck came  That's so mysterious. It seems also that that door can only be accessed from one way, only entering it I mean. I'll have another check once the castle completely renovated.

Yes, me too Stringer. I forgot to tell you but... you have really wonderful children! Guy gave a great advice of telling them that you were proud of them, that kind of 'strengthen' their relationships with you.

Hi Rebbie... no, I don't mind at all. I was 24. It will be five years, come November 21. Holidays just don't "do it" for me anymore... he passed away the weekend before Thanksgiving and it kind of wrecked it for me.

But, he truly is my inspiration in all areas of life... and I can honestly say that I do not have a single bad memory of him.

Thank you for sharing! We are never ready to let them go but you are so young to have to deal with this so early. I can tell by your posts you are a strong person and will be fine. I know your dad was proud of you and knew you would be okay. Tough times, especially near a Holiday. My sis-n-law lost her mother Christmas Day and my sister lost her son the day before Christmas Eve! They do both try to still celebrate with joy the birth of the Lord and to celebrate the lives of their loved ones but it does sort of wreck the Holiday Spirit.

My dad had never been ill a day in his life except for a cold here and there, he had been at my house, left laughing, called me, chatted a bit, I got a call some 30 minutes later, he was on his way to the hospital, had emergency surgery, was on a vent, gone in 22 days!

To be able to say you do not have a single bad memory of him is remarkable and a testimony to both your lives!

Goodness, I won't go on... guess my heart is just so full today of the love being poured out here in the park today! I think it is nice though to get a glimpse into each other's personal lives from time to time. Again, thank you HC, for sharing!

Wow... that's... unreal. Dad was sick with Cancer for 14 months... we knew it was coming. I can't imagine not knowing

We all need a hug every now and again, don't we! :) Glad the park is such a happy place... now, no tree hugging though... that would be a little too far...

I am sorry for your loss Unky!! Life can sure deal us some hard blows but here you are, sharing love and joy with so many! I admire you for that! You have a very sweet spirit about you! :p

I'm so sorry for everyone going through such hardships... I must be fortunate as I never had to deal with any deaths in the family... plenty among friends, but none in the family. I know it'll come one day... but it's just one of those things you never wish will happen.. . like finding out that the santa at the mall isn't really santa... but your chinese food delivery guy, trying to make a buck over the holidays.

It makes things that you once thought of as "cheesy" very meaningful and precious. Never again will I take advantage of those that I love. Not that I ever took advantage of my Dad, but you know... there were times that I should have stayed home rather than go out with friends... should have let him hold my hand... you know... teen girl embarrassment stuff.

I had the best parents ever... I can't complain. :)

HC, I feel the same way about my parents. Losing them was the hardest thing I ever went through. I was 30 when they died, I've told the story a few times already, they both died of cancer, Dad died first Jan 12, 2001, and then Mom on July 30, 2001.

It's been 7 years and I still think about them every day, especially when one of the kids does something new, I always wish they could be here to see it. We got together all the time, talked every day, we had a wonderful relationship. It still pains me that they never got to see Jared grow up, they never even met Sydney, it's hard.

We all go through tragedy, and we're all made stronger because of it, the key is to keep the good memories in your heart, share them with others, that way your loved ones will live on forever. :)

    long story short.

hc wrote something that was open to the general public. Random ex's friend got ahold of it. Sent me angry messages.

... and now hc and I are apparently spending nights together.

    ... too much?
