I usually hate Monday, cause I usually have an exam. This week I hate Wednesday. Fall "break" for me today and tomorrow. Will be in study group the next 2 days. Should pass my test with flying colors.

J, I'll cross my finger for you!

My doctor was on vacation for a week and I was hoping that I'd get my cytology results today. I waited until 11:30 to give him time to see patients and have his mail checked by his staff. I called and asked if my results were in... was told that he has not read his mail yet and that I should call back tomorrow. I was upset and told them the he can call me tomorrow - I just hate to be put on hold and listen to that crappy music. I've been his patient for over 20 years and see a change in his working attitude. I just don't want to take the time and effort to switch doctors now at this stage.

    I need some hugs...

    Hugs to you Chery,

Doctors can be awful creatures at times but the thing that annoys me even more is that sometimes it is not even the doctor but the darn secretary that could be the -----.

I hope you get the results soon and you should not have to chase after the doctor for them. Hugs to you and hope all is well with you and the tests.

    Thanks, gals...

Awe.. CBW.. where did you find those beautiful kittens. I could look at that picture all day. It makes me feel so warm.

My cat, Larry is over 15 yrs and he's not the healthies either. He has been acting 'depressed' lately and it just breaks my heart to think that he's almost at the end of his journey too. Especially after my daughter's cat Simba died a month ago. He's in our backyard and I can 'visit' him often.

This time of the year has always been 'lucky' for me until the past two years.. I hope things change for the better soom.

I already know the test results, it's just that I need the 'black and white' version for the Health Insurance Company here to process documents I need upgrade my handicapped status which should also financially benefit me.

Thank's for letting me 'sound off' here.

You're right, that staff is a bit lazy. They knew before they went on vacation that I was waiting for the results. I guess it's not as important to them as it is for me.

That's terrible Chery!! On the bright side though, if your results came back unfavorable the doctor would have been made aware immediately. So, hopefully everything came back just fine.

    Hugs to you dear!!

Morning everyone! Chery, I can't imagine the waiting you have to go through just to find something out. Of course doctors are so busy and so are the staff, but when you call and call can wait and wait you would think they sense your urgency sweet. Here are a million hugs from me to you. :)

With all of your hugs and support, I feel a little calmer now.

Tomorrow, I will have a serious talk with the doc and he will know exactly how upset I was and what I expect from now on.

    Thanks again.

I'm an admin, Em. The problem is that my work history has been weird and sporadic, so I have some strange levels of experience in some programs--like NO Powerpoint, but some experience with PeopleSoft, only it was a modified version for the education system.

It's amazing what you can tell about a company from their ads when they're looking for admin/clerical. It's an essential part of every business, but treated in some cases as if any person who can read can do the job.

Painting my new office. It has a window! The window faces a brick wall, but it is a window! Beats the shared office I had.

I did some foam art with my daughter this weekend. She insists the Pilgrim is a Leprechaun because of the hat. So we have a Native American, horn of plenty and a Leprechaun in a black outfit on our kitchen table.

A virtual cornicopia of strange things on your table. Has the Leprechaun given you any crap? I find them to be little smartasses.

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. I miss talking to you all. CBW you staying well? J-9 how's school treating you... start, you staying busy? Synn? Everyone else?

Started prenatal arobics last night for my last few weeks... im loving it already.

Have to work 3-11 this week to train with the day crew.. not looking forward to those hours, there is no time for anything else. Will be happy when I'm back to my normal schedule which I have grown to love.

Finally finished the baby room this last weekend, and now I'm just picking up the little things at the stores and putting them in their place.

Well I'm already being beckoned again from upstiars... better start lunch. Have a good day!

Okay, just for an idea, here is one of my test questions... How do I know? One of the instructors told us, LOL. Let's see if anyone can get the answer right...

You are caring for a newborn with nuchal rigidity, a poor suck reflex, and a weak cry. You suspect the infant has:

    A) spina bifida
    B) Chiari II Malformation (Arnold-Chiari malformation)
    C) epilepsy
    D) craniosynostosis

Hmmmmmmm, I know which one I'm going to pick.

    Now, back to my studies.

I'm going to guess D, because that is the letter I choose when I don't know the answer on multiple choice quizzes.
  • Oct 16, 2007, 12:52 PM
    J_9
Very good guesses guys, but the answer is B.

Testing reasoning here (taught to me by my psych instructor) three answers are one or two words, in this case the answer that has the most words is correct. If three answers have 6 words and one has 2 words, the one with 2 is correct.

If 3 answers have the words "always" in them and one answer has "occasionally" well, then that is your answer.

Just some test taking strategy if you ever go back to school.

Here's an easy one taken from my test bank that we study from...

The nurse is admitting a young child to the hospital because bacterial meningitis is suspected. Which of the following is the major priority of nursing care?

    A. Initiate isolation precautions as soon as diagnosis is confirmed.
    B. Initiate isolation precautions as soon as the causative agent is identified.
    C. Administer antibiotic therapy as soon as it is ordered.
    D. Administer sedatives/analgesics on a preventive schedule to manage pain.

Yeah, I'm taking a break right now. Need one as my head is hurting. I should stop studying so that I don't OVER study (which I do actually have a tendency to do).
  • Oct 16, 2007, 01:25 PM
    Chery
    My guess is C.

The first two would make you think because of "isolation', but the words "confirmed" and "agent identified" are the catchers. And with the suspecion of meningitis, the child would already be placed in isolation.

    Am I right, huh, huh,.

I could use a gold star today.

I called my doctor again this morning and he asked me to come in. So, I went in and he did not tell me anything I did not already know. The tumor is there. The doctor blah, blahd the usual options to be taken, and I stopped him. I do not plan on surgery, chemo, or anything else. I don't plan on spending the last few months or more in any darned hospital.

I believe in Quality and not Quantity and lately the quality part of my life has deminished to the point of no-return.

So, Monday I go back and let him do a few more tests for beurocratic protocol.

He was kind enough to prescribe some valium for me and told me to come see him any time I felt the need.

YAY! Cheri, you are right!! Good girl...

Cher, you know I would be there with you if I could. Good thing you have your real daughter with you. I too believe in quality vs quantity.

Sorry, Rich, love, 2 points taken off. Cher was correct. And her reasoning was AWSOME!!
