I didn't see that video but I heard them talking about it on the news while I was getting ready this morning. Its been some strange weather patterns across the US hasn't it?

You should have seen that video... your jaw would have hit the floor. You saw I think it was seven vehicles not including the parked cars get totaled when gravity took over on a really steep hill in a residential neighborhood that was untreated glare Ice. What's amazing was nobody got hurt

Ice storms are really not rare in Pittsburgh or even in DC where I am now... not in the span of my life that I remember. And I'm 49. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area.

    Hey Smooth,

I also grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Greensburg, Monroeville, Penn Hills area.

You learn early how to drive in ice and snow if you grew up there, I have many stories about situations on ice and white outs.

What part of Pgh were you in?

What always bothered my Smooth was that it always seemed to take them forever to salt the roads. And there are a lot of steep 'hills' around Pgh.

THe never did get to the street I live on... I barely got enough traction on the ice to get out yesterday morning. If it had been a smooth rather than really bumpy ice, I wouldn't have gotten to work yesterday morning at all.

Yes it does, I heard it crack and that sound is awful. Now half of the tooth is loose and hurting like h*ll! I am taking pain pills but it is starting to swell a bit.

Update: I just spoke with my dentist he recommended another dentist as he is out of town until Friday. BUT no, I told him I will wait until Friday unless the tooth breaks away... crap, crap and more crap...

I am sitting here in my PJ's and robe seating my a*s off with a tooth hurting, where the h*ll is that other box of Kleenex?

I don't take anything for my arthritis... it only bothers me if I'm on my feet for hours or when the weather makes radical swings. I've got a very high pain threshold. And a very low tollerance to most pain meds. Meaning most don't do much or cause me severe side effects, worse than the pain itself.

Dealt with the last operation I had with NO post op meds because of the problems I had as a result of meds from the previous surgery. WHich either shut down my bowels... or gave me hives... besides doing nothing for the actual pain in the first place. Yeah... went through 5 or 6 and none were worth the effort of taking... including Percs which gave me the worst problems.

Funny when you think about it. I mean really what was he thinking when he was working on patients? Makes me want to look him up.

Off the topic but if anyone reads you must read A Child Called It. Amazing. I wasn't sure I could do it. I have since read the next book following it. With a much better ending. Makes you hug your babies a bit tigher and love them a little harder.

Sounds interesting Sunny, I don't know if I could love my kids (Marta and my grandkids) much more than I already do. They tug on my heart each moment, I am so proud of them.

Hm... you need to get Calcium too Stringer, crunchy veggies and milk/cheese would be good, and vitamin D that is got from a little of sunlight and natural oils like fish oil or sunflower oil.

My Late father had that for years... Correct term is osteoarthritis... right? Nasty thing... did a real job on his ankles and knees. They had to fuse his ankles and remove bone growth it got so bad.

THe Doctor never told ne exactly what kind I had... it turned up during a presurgical MRI I had... and explained certain pains I had for a while before then.

But mines not progressed far enough to require pain meds of any type. And if I'm lucky it won't for a lot more years. I'm 49, was diagnosed 10 years ago... and its only gotten a little worse in that time. From my perspective anyway based on what I feel.

I agree Unky. I take fish oil pills, a multi vitamin, etc, daily. Marta is the 'supervisor' and makes sure that I do.

Mine developed about 5 years ago. It's growth and progression lye dormant then goes through a fast progression for a period. Sometimes I can't even lift a cup of coffee.

But look, I am doing fine, not the cripple that I may have painted here and it is only in my hands.

All I need presently is to get past this damn bronchitis it is 'killing' me along with this tooth. Bring it on, I can handle it all... :)

Stringer, maybe this will make you laugh or cry... My deck was packed full of ice, so today I went out and bought an ice pick. Well, E was out side with me "helping". I'm yelling at her to watch where she s going so she doesn't fall, and I slammed the ice pick down on my ankle. As the ice pick was coming down, I lost my balance and slid backwards a$$ first down the stairs. Ouch. My ankle is all swollen and bleeding. I JUST got home, now I think I have drive another 42km to go to the emerg. I think I may have broke something.
