Oh yea, I just thought it was because it was raining or something. I have free LD here in NS, and pay 5 cents a minute any where else is Canada.

That one call only cost me $7.00, and we talked for like 3 hours.

When it's working, which isn't often, it's fuzzy, it's crackly, it hangs up on people, puts them on hold, you name it.

It's a great idea, if it worked consistently, but it doesn't.

I just paid for 5 years a few months ago. I won't be renewing it when my contract is over.

Magic jack stinks. Every time I call alty... 20 seconds into the conversation (WHEN it actually connects and WHEN she can actually hear me)... I hear elevator music.

    Get skype. Much better.

It may or may not be the magicjack. Your provider or computer can also be the reason.

Hi Isneezefunny, since we are being so formal :p

What's the scoop with skype? Do they have that in Canada? Don't you need to have a web cam?

    I have to agree.

    Hate Magic Jack.

I originally got it talk to Sneezy. Ya kid, it's all because of you. You're to blame. All your fault. Feel bad. ;)

99.9% of the time, it doesn't work. The rest of the time, when it is working, the connection is made, it's still crappy.

Don't know much about skype. Got desperate yesterday and tried to set it up, but it's me, and you know how computer literate I'm not. ;)

Not sure how it works in Canada but in the U.S. cable companies provide phone service and its unlimited calling to ALL of U.S. and Canada as well as a few other countries for about $20 a month.

I admit that it could be my puter, but everything else works fine, so why shouldn't MJ?

I have highspeed internet, runs great. My puter is happy.. ish.

Na, I'm blaming magic jack. ;)

That's what it's basically like in every other province in Canada, except here in NS. We're still kind of backwards here. We only have street names on one end of the street

Skype is a wonderful amalgamation between a webchat + magic jack.

All you need is a program and you can webchat. If you want to CALL people or want people to call you, then you need a subscription. I pay $2.70 a month to be able to call US and canada (unlimited), and then I roughly pay $6 so that I get assigned a phone number and people are able to call me.

Then there's the chat thing, where you can chat to people and there's the webcam thing, which is nice for those... interesting... conversations.

You also can do many of the same things for free with Yahoo. VOIP isn't as big a deal now as it used to be.

    For magic Jack?

I pay $60/5years. And so far, it's not worth the cost. ;)

Sorry, not a big fan after using it for 2 years.

That sounds confusing. I called my mouse my mousey thingy yesterday... I don't really call any one in the US, but for 5 cents a minute for here in Canada, I'll deal with what I have. So what exactly is web chat?

Web chat means I'd have to get dressed when I call my friends.

    Or not. :D
