You said I could go outside and pick it up. Thus, stray cat.

A lichen? Bark? A flower part? Grass blade? (this doesn't look organic) Is it organic? Animal, vegetable, or mineral?
  • Aug 8, 2008, 12:13 AM
    ISneezeFunny
Not living. Not organic. Neither animal nor vegetable.

    And what defines a mineral?
  • Aug 8, 2008, 12:15 AM
    Wondergirl
mineral = a naturally occurring substance formed through geological processes that has a characteristic chemical composition, a highly ordered atomic structure and specific physical properties. A rock, by comparison, is an aggregate of minerals and need not have a specific chemical composition. Minerals range in composition from pure elements and simple salts to very complex silicates with thousands of known forms. (from Wikipedia)

    Hm.

    I found this:

A mineral is a naturally occurring homogeneous solid, inorganically formed, with a definite chemical composition and an ordered atomic arrangement.

Based on the above definition, then yes, it is a mineral and it is in the form of a crystal

Is it gray in real life?

    Answer is...

    another hint.

nature. exists in some parts of the world, non-existent in other parts of the world. Some beaches have them, some islands have them. Most of the North American continent has it as well.

    Some beaches have SNOWFLAKES??
