It's quite amazing how you can form opinions (not necessarily good or bad) as you progress through these threads. Sometimes the innocent are exposed and other are (?). I find all of you most interesting and delightful and really missed the experience as I wasted away on vacation.

Now that I have the time (sick) and can spend some time here--where is everyone else?

I had fun; I enjoy doing and seeing new things especially culturally. Seeing Warsaw and how it was rebuilt afer the war, amazing. Like Krakow, there is a lot of history and very beautiful and friendly people. Although Warsaw doesn't have an actural "town square" like krakow there is a main street in the center of town. They have closed it to traffic where people can shop and enjoy international dining. Beautiful, especially at night.

We stayed with some friends who were very nice and very accommodating. Quiet and peaceful with a lake about twenty feet from the back of the house.

But... after a week and a half of this I was aching to get back to business... Although I still had another week to go. I'm not complaining, I guess I needed the vacation. And I got some very beautiful time with my lovly and beatuiful wife. Like I said though, she won't be returning to Chicago for another couple weeks.

Sorry for going on like this... I guess I had some stuff "bottled up."

    Stringer

Wife not being there especially when you are down being unwell... hmmm I can understand the ranting;)

WOW! Near a lake and quiet, sounds like a wonderful place.
Never been anywhere near there, all I know are from novels.
The town non "square" sounds like a beautiful place.

I can imagine dining under the stars...

Firm, it was really nice, and the food... outstanding. We spent the evening shopping and ate at an exquisite Italian (Polish) Restaurant. The food melted in my mouth while a pianist played classical music and the night was clear. One of those times I will remember.

I have traveled to Europe three times and have found most of the people very nice, polite and always willing to help. Before my first trip, which was right after 9/11 I didn't really know what to expect. All my doubts were soon erased by their kindness and delightful dispositions. And there inquisitive nature; many questions about America and Chicago.

"What do you call someone who speaks at least two languages? Bi-lingual. What do you call someone who speaks only one language? American."

What can I say? (A little Spanish, German, and very little Polish)

9/11 seems to have made a huge impact on people around the world, I too am hesitant sometimes even here because of my faith I do feel a bit defensive when some ask questions regarding my beliefs (I may feel it is in a judgemental way)..

I like tasting different foods... you sound like you really enjoyed your trip and made some memories.
Must be this flu thing making you feel like you wasted the vacation.;)

Stringer you speak Spanish,German and Polish... impressive.

    Firm, you missed; "very little."

It is foolishness to judge people by their nationality, ethic group, or religion. How shortsighted to limit yourself by doing this? Everyone has something to add to humankind in large and small ways. People who do this only limit themselves and NEVER grow in any way.

I am against the senseless 9/11 violence and any violence of this nature. I am not a "peacenik" but we have to do much better.

Doing much better is what we all aim for,but then what will come to pass will come to pass whether we want it to or not... that is life.

I agree, taking some time puts things in prospective, and rebuilds your stamina.

I picked this sucker up on the plane trip back, it's a doosey. It put me in bed for about a week.
It went for my lungs, stomach, and sinuses with a vengeance. And even now, it won't let go.
I've got a very important meeting Monday morning with our largest client--I have to be there and I have to be conscious!
