    Hey Adam and Smoothy! :)

I'm getting busy with work. Starting at 8.30 (officially, but with the traffic I get at 8.45 most of the time) and ends at 5.15 (again, with traffic, I arrive home at about 6.45 pm).

Then, I get on forums (excluding time for dinner, shower and stuff), then to IRC where I'm working on a bot (which is a program which runs on a server) and helped by some friends.

Well, yesterday I added a script which tells the bot to display the time and date at a particular location on the globe by typing in

    .tz location

Where tz means timezone and the location can be Mauritius, New York, London, etc.

My bot for the time being can also host an uno game and work out the scores, save them up, set a ranking table with number of wins and total points, etc.

I still have a lot to read on how to activate more options and make the bot run faster.

Well welcome to the working world. Not at all like school. I personally like working better than attending school. Particularly once you get comfortable in the new job. But not everyone feels that way.

    Thanks!

Indeed, I like it a tad more for the time being because I don't have my homework to do XD

Well, that might change in some time since some of my colleagues are taking some of their work home so that they complete the job on time.

In some way, I have more time than before, but then, I'm also doing (trying to do) more things than before... oh well. :o

Oh it so is, massive popularity contest, little clicks, how you dress and what things you have still matter, boss'(teachers) have their favourites, there's still those tossers that have a go every chance they get.

Only differences I can see are that its more difficult and your getting paid to be unhappy this time around.

Not at the better places to work. I've found you have less of that sort of thing as the work environment INCREASES in professionalism (I.E. technical sophistication).

Where I work and what I do you would never get to do as an entry level person. You have to have years in the field to even be considered for an interview... much less get hired. You don't see those sorts of games as a result here. But I do know you do have those sorts of games some places. The closer you get to where a trained monkey can do the job... the more you get that sort of thing. But even there... the better places won't tolerate that sort of thing because it hurts productivity by fostering a hostile environment.

At least within the scope of personal experience of places I have worked.

    Thanks guys! :)

Bear, I have totally worked at those jobs. My last job at the accounting firm totally SUCKED. Put me in a really bad place in my life. Took a long time to get out of it. High school was much the same at times. I had lots of friends, but one day everyone is friends, the next it's a massive fight.

I do enjoy going to school with adults, there is still the drama and the silliness, but it's more controlled. I have worked at good jobs where, maybe I was a favorite, but I was just treated so well. I actually enjoyed going to work each day. I wish I didn't have to move away and start a new job.

I hear that from people at work as well, saying the sort of crap that happens where we work wouldn't happen at more professional buisnesses.

So glad you got out of it Bella :)

Hopefully this new job will be one of the good ones :)

Ernst & Young is the name of the company :) I hear it's the leading company in terms of advisory services. I just got in and the fact that I'm rusty in accounting... I will need to study more to get my ACCA exams done well (that's an accounting exam, Google gives plenty of links).

I'm a junior for the time being and I'm on my first job, that's where a little group from the firm internal advisory department visits a company and assess the financial risks involved, advising where necessary of what to do to minimise those risks.

That's great Unky, much better than most peoples first jobs, well done!
You're going to go a long way kiddo.

I hope I'll be able to hang on this one. I had a colleague who joined at the same time as myself, but he just submitted his request for transfer yesterday... :(

Well, he said that internal audit wasn't really his 'thing' and that he would be better at the Transactions department. Well, thing is... the department there just recruited on January and it's not likely that he'll get a place there... and now that he submitted his transfer, if he doesn't get the place there, he won't be able to come back. That's really sad, because he had very good qualifications :( (A BSc, an MSc, ACCA 3 and 5 years of experience in banking)

That's one of the things you learn in the work force... choose your moves carefully... because if you make a bad move... you can't always go back... and even if they will take you back... you won't be viewed or treated the same.

Well, it just makes me a little sad... he's a good person, been friendly and all, but I guess that the current job is not the one he finds himself to fit into. If he likes where he goes, I can only be glad.

But as for me, I like it where I am. I will get to travel a lot when I go up the levels in the job :)
